Top-seeded Jessica Pegula opened her 2025 campaign with a commanding 6-4, 6-1 win over Greece’s Maria Sakkari to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International. After a slow start, Pegula rallied from a 2-0 deficit, breaking Sakkari’s serve six times to set up a clash with fellow American Ashlyn Krueger. Krueger triumphed in a three-set battle, defeating No. 5 seed Paula Badosa 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 6-2.
Second-seeded Emma Navarro advanced with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory over Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova. No. 3 seed Daria Kasatkina ousted Australian Emerson Jones 7-5, 6-3, while Madison Keys upset No. 8 Jelena Ostapenko 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
