Penguins 3, Rangers 2 – Pittsburgh Wins Without Crosby & Malkin

The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame the absence of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to grind out a 3-2 road victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Philip Tomasino netted the game-winning goal in the second period, capping a three-goal outburst that propelled Pittsburgh to victory. Blake Lizotte and Rickard Rakell also found the net, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 22 saves.

For the Rangers, Vincent Trocheck had a goal and an assist, and Adam Fox also scored, but Igor Shesterkin’s 23 saves weren’t enough to prevent New York’s three-game winning streak from ending.

Crosby (upper-body injury) saw his 229-game consecutive games played streak end, while Malkin (lower-body) missed his fifth straight game. It was the first time since November 2021 that both were absent from the same game.
