Juan Soto made a memorable first spring-training appearance in a Mets uniform by hitting a solo homer in the first inning and adding an RBI groundout in the second as host New York beat Houston in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Soto, who signed a record 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets, took Astros left-hander Colton Gordon deep on a 2-1 pitch for a 426-foot drive to left-center.
Clay Holmes, shifting from the Yankees to the Mets and converting to a starting role, fanned three in three perfect innings. Gordon surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits in 1 1/3 frames. Brice Matthews and Chase Jaworsky collected RBIs for Houston.

Reds 6, Guardians 3

Elly De La Cruz homered from both sides of the plate as Cincinnati downed Cleveland in Goodyear, Ariz. De La Cruz’s left-handed blast off Triston McKenzie traveled an estimated 450 feet in the first, and his right-handed shot off Logan Allen in the fourth went 409 feet. Willie Banfield added a three-run homer for the Reds.
Cleveland’s Lane Thomas opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the top of the first off Hunter Greene, who struck out three in two innings. McKenzie allowed just the one run in his two-inning stint.

Nationals 6, Astros 3

Robert Hassell III lined a go-ahead three-run double in the ninth as Washington prevailed in West Palm Beach, Fla. Nationals reliever Tyler Stuart gave up two runs in the eighth to blow the save, but Marquis Grissom Jr. shut the door in the ninth for the save.
Joey Mancini took the loss for Houston, loading the bases via two walks and a hit batsman before Hassell’s decisive double. The Astros managed only two hits and scored on a sacrifice fly, a groundout, and a wild pitch.

Pirates 10, Orioles 5

Matt Gorski launched two homers, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs to lead Pittsburgh past Baltimore in Sarasota, Fla. D.J. Stewart added a two-run homer and finished with three RBIs as part of the Pirates’ 12-hit performance.
Seven Pirates relievers combined to allow just two earned runs. Orioles starter Albert Suarez yielded two runs on three hits and walked two over 1 2/3 innings, while Emmanuel Rivera homered and scored twice in the loss.

Red Sox 6, Rays 4

Tyler Miller broke a tie with a two-run blast in the ninth, powering Boston to victory over Tampa Bay in Port Charlotte, Fla. Ceddanne Rafaela and Trayce Thompson also homered for the Red Sox, who squandered a 4-1 lead before Miller’s late shot.
Danny Jansen, a recent signee with the Rays, belted a solo homer against his former club. Willy Vazquez and Tres Barrera recorded RBI singles in a three-run seventh that pulled Tampa Bay even.

Tigers 7, Phillies 6

Ben Malgeri went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a walk-off single, helping Detroit rally past Philadelphia in Lakeland, Fla. Justice Bigbie’s two-run single highlighted the Tigers’ comeback.
Matt Manning struggled in his spring debut, yielding three runs on three hits and four walks in 1 1/3 innings. For Philadelphia, Buddy Kennedy drilled a two-run homer, Josh Breaux added a solo shot, and newly signed Max Kepler contributed a two-run single.

Twins 3, Braves 1

Chris Sale and Zebby Matthews each worked two shutout innings in a low-hit affair in Fort Myers, Fla. Luke Keaschall’s two-run single in the sixth put Minnesota on top, and Kala’i Rosario tacked on a seventh-inning sacrifice fly.
Braves starter Nick Allen delivered an RBI single in the third for Atlanta’s lone run. Sale was perfect in his two frames, retiring all six batters he faced in his spring debut.

Blue Jays 6, Yankees 4

Orelvis Martinez drilled a solo homer off Brandon Leibrandt as Toronto built an early advantage and held off visiting New York in Dunedin, Fla. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. plated the game’s first run with an RBI single, and Alejandro Kirk and Steward Berroa added key hits.
In his first spring outing, Yankees newcomer Carlos Rodon allowed three runs on five hits across 2 2/3 innings. Spencer Jones clubbed a two-run homer, while Alexander Vargas followed with a solo shot for the Yankees.

Marlins 7, Cardinals 6

Heriberto Hernandez’s three-run double ignited a five-run seventh, and Joe Mack’s go-ahead RBI single in the eighth completed Miami’s rally from a six-run hole to beat St. Louis in Jupiter, Fla. Jack Winkler tied the game with an RBI double before Mack’s single provided the eventual winning margin.
Erick Fedde, making his spring debut for the Cardinals, tossed one scoreless inning. Jose Barrero’s two-run single capped a five-run sixth that put St. Louis up 6-0 before the Marlins surged back.

Royals 11, Dodgers 10

John Rave’s two-run triple in the ninth gave Kansas City a wild road win over Los Angeles in Glendale, Ariz. Maikel Garcia drove in three with a triple, and Omar Hernandez chipped in a two-run single as part of the Royals’ 11-hit outburst.
Hunter Feduccia went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and five RBIs for the Dodgers. Max Muncy also clubbed a three-run shot and Zyhir Hope went deep, but L.A. could not hold off the Royals’ ninth-inning comeback.

Giants 6, Rangers 1

Sam Huff and Bryce Eldridge each launched two-run homers to back a stout pitching effort for San Francisco against Texas in Surprise, Ariz. Grant McCray added a solo blast, and Jake Lamb singled twice and scored once.
Giants pitchers struck out 10 and walked only one. Trevor Hauver’s solo shot off Raymond Burgos accounted for Texas’ lone run.

Cubs 7, White Sox 3

Michael Busch went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in Chicago’s five-run second inning, fueling the host Cubs in Mesa, Ariz. Benjamin Cowles contributed a solo homer, two RBIs, and two runs, and Justin Steele fanned five in two spotless frames in his spring debut.
Colson Montgomery’s two-run homer and Tim Elko’s solo shot were not enough for the White Sox. Starter Jared Shuster allowed five runs over two innings in the loss.

Rockies 9, Diamondbacks 3

Michael Toglia’s three-run homer in the fifth snapped a 3-3 tie and propelled Colorado over visiting Arizona in Scottsdale. Zac Veen also hit a two-run shot and Cole Carrigg added two RBIs for the Rockies.
Ketel Marte drove in two runs on a deep sacrifice fly to center in the fifth, with a third run scoring on a throwing error. Arizona mustered six hits overall in the defeat.

Padres 10, Athletics 3

San Diego hammered out 13 hits in a lopsided win over Oakland in Peoria, Ariz. Jackson Merrill picked up two RBIs, Luis Arraez and Oscar Gonzalez posted two hits and one RBI each, and nine different Padres drove in at least one run.
Lawrence Butler went 2-for-3 with a solo homer for the A’s, and Tyler Soderstrom supplied an RBI single. San Diego pitchers permitted seven hits and issued only two walks.

Angels 11, Mariners 10

Kyren Paris smacked a go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the ninth, capping Los Angeles’ seesaw victory over Seattle in Tempe, Ariz. Yolmer Sanchez and Nelson Rada each drove in a pair of runs as the Angels collected 14 hits.
Hogan Windish belted a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to stake Seattle to a 10-9 lead. Nick Dunn and Carlos Jimenez also had two RBIs apiece, but the Mariners’ pitching faltered in the final frame.

Brewers 8, Reds 7

Vinny Capra crushed two three-run homers, including the walk-off shot in the bottom of the ninth, to lift Milwaukee past Cincinnati in Phoenix. His first came in the sixth to get the Brewers on the board, and his second sealed the victory.
Ernesto Martinez Jr. added a two-run homer for Milwaukee. Gavin Lux finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs in his debut for the Reds, who also got a solo blast from Santiago Espinal and an RBI single from TJ Friedl.
