Jessica Pegula, McCartney Kessler to meet in all-American final at Austin

ATX Open (Austin, Texas)

Top-seeded Jessica Pegula hit 31 winners and overcame a shaky second set to defeat Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 on Saturday, earning her spot in the final. Tomljanovic struggled with 11 double faults, and Pegula capitalized in the decisive third set to chase her seventh career title.

Pegula will square off against fifth-seeded McCartney Kessler in an all-American championship match. Kessler booked her place in the final with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Belgium’s Greet Minnen, despite converting just 5 of her 18 break points. Minnen committed 10 double faults in defeat.
