This is a weak card, but there’s still money to be made with our UFC Vegas 77 picks. Holly Holm is in the main event and will be fighting Mayra Bueno Silva who is much younger than her opponent.

Jack Della Maddalena (JDM) has been bumped up to the co-main event against Bassil Hafez.

Co-Main event for UFC Vegas 77

UFC Vegas 77 Preview

When: Saturday, July 15th 2023

Where: UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada

Time: Prelims (7:00 PM ET) / Main Card (10:00 PM ET)

Watch: ESPN/ESPN+ (USA) / TSN (Canada)

There are five ranked fighters on the card. Holm (#3) and Silva (#10) will fight at bantamweight. The other three ranked fighters are JDM (#14 WW), Norma Dumont (#13 WFW) and Chelsea Chandler (#15 WFW).

The main card has some interesting fights, including Ottman Azaitar vs. Francisco Prado. I’m also excited to see the fight between Tyson Nam vs. Azat Maksum on the UFC Vegas 77 prelims.

Expert UFC Vegas 77 Picks

I (SWJ Sports) went 4-2 (+$150) on my UFC 290 picks for a small profit. My overall record is now 32-20 (+$173) and I’ll be looking to increase my profits with my UFC Vegas 77 picks.

The UFC Vegas 77 weigh-ins just concluded and every fighter made weight. All 13 of the scheduled fights are confirmed and will take place on Saturday. Let’s jump into my UFC Vegas 77 picks.

Holly Holm vs. Mayra Bueno Silva Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Holm (-165) vs. Silva (+135)

Holm (15-6) is 3-1 since 2020 with all four fights going the distance. She defeated Yana Santos in her last fight back in March. Silva (10-2-1) is 5-2-1 in the UFC and she has won three consecutive fights.

Santos has seven submission wins, including her last two fights. The problem for her in this fight is going to be taking Holm down. Holm has 78% takedown defense (TDD) and has only been taken down twice in her last nine fights. Holm will utilize her boxing and 3” reach advantage in striking exchanges.

Holm only averages 3.17 SLpM, but she doesn’t take a lot of damage (2.77 SApM). Silva is a more active striker (4.20 SLpM), but that has meant she gets tagged more often as well (4.71 SApM).

There’s a good chance this fight goes the distance, which I’ll be targeting on parlays. I’m also betting on one of these women to win, but you need a Sports Hub account to access all of my UFC Vegas 77 picks. Ottman Azaitar vs. Francisco Prado Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Azaitar (-110) vs. Prado (-120)

Azaitar (13-1) rarely fights and is coming off his first career loss against Matt Frevola (R1 KO). Azaitar has lots of power (10 TKO/KO wins) and will come out swinging for the fences. Prado (11-1) lost his debut to Jamie Mullarkey by decision, but he’s a finisher with five TKO/KO wins and six submission wins.

My UFC Vegas 77 pick is Prado

Azaitar averages 6.97 SLpM and 2.63 SApM. He has only been out of the first round twice in his career, though. Prado has a granite chin and should survive Azaitar’s early onslaught. He struggled in his debut, as he was taken down three times, but he didn’t take much damage and he fought on short notice.

The Argentine fighter needs an exciting win and this is the perfect chance for that.

Best Bet: Prado ML (-120)

Albert Duraev vs. Jun Yong Park Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Duraev (+125) vs. Park (-155)

Duraev (16-4) is 2-1 in the UFC. He was knocked out by Joaquin Buckley in his second fight, which was the fourth time he has been knocked out. He bounced back by defeating Chidi Njokuani (Decision).

Park (16-5) is 6-2 in the UFC and on a three-fight win streak. His last two wins have been by submission against Joseph Holmes and Denis Tiuliulin. Duraev likes shooting for takedowns. He has five takedowns in his three UFC fights, but his takedown accuracy is 27% and Park has 70% TDD.

Duraev has a 2” reach advantage and much better striking defense (63% vs. 53%). Park has the edge in striking (4.92 SLpM vs. 2.94 SLpM), but this fight will hit the mat. Duraev needs to utilize his wrestling to tire out Park and prevent his opponent from gaining top position where he has a strong GnP game.

Both guys have a strong submission game, as Duraev has nine submission wins and Park has five. One difference is Park has been tapped out twice in his career, while Duraev has never been tapped out.

This is a close fight that could end up going either way on Saturday night.

Norman Dumont vs. Chelsea Chandler Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Dumont (-145) vs. Chandler (+115)

Dumont (9-2) is already 5-2 in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2020. She lost her debut by KO in the first round against Megan Anderson, but her last six fights have gone the distance. Chandler (5-1) won her UFC debut against Julija Stoliarenko (R1 TKO) and looked great in the process.

Chandler averages 8.94 SLpM and 2.82 SApM. She’s going to push the pace in this fight. Dumont is a lot more patient in the cage. She averages 3.45 SLpM, 2.07 SApM and 1.16 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Dumont doesn’t have a lot of power and has never won by TKO/KO. She’s going to have a chance to land counter punches in this fight and she’ll look to score points with her takedowns. Chandler will score points with volume and she’s a threat to finish. Three of her last four wins have been by stoppage.

Nazim Sadykhov vs. Terrance McKinney Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Sadykhov (-145) vs. McKinney (+115)

This is going to be an exciting fight. McKinney (13-5) has suffered a couple setbacks, as he’s 1-2 in his last three and was knocked out in both losses. However, those were against Drew Dober and Ismael Bonfim. Sadykhov (8-1) won his UFC debut against Evan Elder (R3 TKO) and has six TKO/KO wins.

McKinney goes for broke in his fights and hasn’t shown much cardio. Only one of his fights has made it to the third round. McKinney would be wise to utilize his wrestling. He could keep this fight on the mat and lock in a submission or win on points, but he has to avoid striking exchanges with Sadykhov.

Sadykhov will be looking to win by TKO/KO, but his best chance is to keep his distance in the first round and let McKinney tire himself out before he looks to finish his opponent.

Alex Munoz vs. Carl Deaton Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Munoz (-215) vs. Deaton (+170)

Munoz (6-2) is returning from an ACL tear and hasn’t fought since April 2021. He’s 0-2 in the UFC with losses against Nasrat Haqparast and Luis Pena. The Pena fight was a controversial decision. Deaton (17-6-0-2) lost his UFC debut against Joe Solecki (R2 Submission) back in February.

Deaton landed one shot in his UFC debut. He was taken down and couldn’t get up. Munoz is a wrestler that averages 3.0 takedowns per 15 minutes. Munoz also averages 3.96 SLpM, but his striking defense has been non-existent (5.49 SApM). However, Deaton has terrible striking and shouldn’t pose a problem.

I have concerns about the long layoff for Munoz and I’m sure there will be some cage rust. However, he needs to win this fight and he has the blueprint after seeing Solecki dominate Deaton. This is a must-win fight against a weaker competitor and if he blows this chance, he should be cut from the UFC.

The odds on Munoz were around -150 earlier in the week, but heavy money has come in on him and he’s now priced up at -215 odds. There aren’t many UFC Vegas 77 picks I’m confident about on the prelims, but Munoz stands out and I’ll take my chances on him dominating this fight with his wrestling.

Best Bet: Munoz ML (-215)
