5 NFL Bold Predictions for the 2023 Season
I’ve got 5 NFL bold predictions for you ahead of the 2023 season. We all like to have a bit of fun before the new season gets underway. We just can’t help but contain our excitement for football!
We all have biases too which can help sway our football opinions. I’m an Arizona Cardinals fan and I’m fully on board with Kyler Murray too. Maybe crazy predictions for the Cards could be in store…
I can’t wait to let you in on my NFL bold predictions. Some will be out there and some not so much. Who knows, maybe some of them will come true! Let’s get into them.
- Brock Purdy will win MVP
Although Purdy isn’t anywhere near one of the front runners to win MVP this year, he may not actually be a bad shout. First of all, he is a quarterback. It has been ten years since a QB didn’t win MVP. Running back Adrian Peterson won it in 2012.
Secondly, the San Francisco 49ers are a top candidate to lead the NFC in wins this season. Again, being on a successful team gives you a better chance of being crowned MVP.
Purdy won all five regular season games that he started in 2022 and completed 67.1% of his passes. He threw 1374 yards for 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. The last overall pick in the 2022 draft also had an impressive passer rating of 107.3.
If Purdy can stay healthy and continue his success from last season, there is no reason why he couldn’t have a fantastic year in 2023. He has plenty of talent around him in Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk too. Currently priced at +3500 to win MVP, he is a great longshot pick.
- Kyler Murray will come back in Week 5 and lead the Cardinals to the playoffs
Okay, maybe now I may be getting a little braver with the second one of my NFL bold predictions. The Cardinals do not have a strong roster and many are tipping them to be one of the worst teams in the league this season, especially since Kyler is starting on the PUP list.
However, as an optimistic Cards fan, I gotta at least hope for a successful season. Even if tanking is the best option right now, potentially earning the number one pick in the 2024 NFL draft, we all want to win.
Realistically, a season where we only pick up two or three wins is going to be incredibly depressing. Therefore, I’m backing my guy K1 to come back from injury to soar the Cards to the playoffs.
The schedule gets somewhat easier midway through the season. Even if the Cards start 0-4, Murray’s return will spark a crazy run to reach the playoffs. Being +1000 to reach the playoffs is worth at least a $10 bet, right?
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will win the Super Bowl
The Buccaneers last won the Super Bowl in 2020 and they still have a number of superstars on the roster. They have also made the playoffs for the last three successive seasons so a Super Bowl win surely isn’t completely out of the question.
However, Tom Brady is now retired and the Bucs had a losing season in 2022. Pro Bowler Ryan Jensen is injured and is a huge loss on the offensive line. Baker Mayfield is set to be QB1 for the Bucs and maybe he could somehow lead them to Super Bowl victory.
What we do know is that Baker has guts. He fought through injuries for the Cleveland Browns and we can’t forget about his 98-yard game-winning drive for the Los Angeles Rams against the Las Vegas Raiders last year.
There’s certainly talent across the Bucs roster and who knows, Todd Bowles could get them going this season. Many believe the Bucs will struggle this season. It’s time for some Baker magic in Tampa.
- Jared Goff will get benched in 2023
I know Jared Goff had an excellent year for the Lions in 2022. He had a tied career low for interceptions last season and had his best passer rating (99.3) since 2018. However, I simply just don’t like Goff.
I have never been a fan of the Rams due to them being a divisional rival to the Cards and their owner Stan Kroenke has also rubbed me up the wrong way in the past. I’m an Arsenal fan in soccer so if you know a bit about that then it may make more sense. Therefore, my dislike for Goff originated from there.
With Teddy Bridgewater on the roster and Hendon Hooker set to return at some point during the season, one of my NFL bold predictions is that one of them two will come in ahead of Goff in 2023.
- Bill Bellichick will get fired this season
Of course, Bill Bellichick is one of the greatest coaches to ever feature in the NFL. However, the New England Patriots haven’t got past the Wild Card round across any of their last four seasons.
There has been talk that Bellichick has gone crazy in recent years and speculation continues to rise that owner Robert Kraft wants him out.
If the Pats have another underwhelming campaign, which looks incredibly likely in 2023, then Bellichick may be out of the door.
