NCAA Football Week 2 Report

We’re back with our NCAA football Week 2 report where we recap the week’s action. There weren’t too many surprises in games featuring top 25 teams, but #11 Texas upset #3 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Our top handicappers performed great again and members had lots of opportunities to profit.

NCAA Football Week 2 Report – Handicapper Review

It was another money-making week for our college football experts. We have a new leader on top of the leaderboard for our NCAA football Week 2 report, as MF Picks went 11-4 (+$660) on his plays.

Here’s how the top handicappers performed on their NCAA football Week 2 predictions:

• MF Picks: 11-4 (+$660)

• Mario Deluca: 3-0 (+$300)

• TonyK 3G-Sports: 2-0 (+$200)

• Ben Miller: 3-1 (+$192)

• Tony Ricci / Bill Blatt: 3-1 (+$190)

Some other notable results from Week 2 include our Computer Picks. The AI has been crushing NCAAF totals to begin the season. In Week 2, the Computer Picks went 14-9 (+$410) on CFB game totals, which means our AI-generated game total picks have gone 27-12 (+$1380) in the first two weeks of the season.

SWJ Sports had a quieter week, but went 3-1 (+$190) on NCAAF point spread picks in Week 2.

Lots of handicappers had lower volume in Week 2, but we had lots of guys go 1-0 (+$100). All in all, our experts made Sports Hub members lots of profit, but we’re only highlighting the top performances in our NCAA football Week 2 report. NCAA Football Week 2 Report – Game of the Week

• Game of the Week: #11 Texas (34) vs. #3 Alabama (24)

Who had the Longhorns dominating the Crimson Tide on the road in Week 2? Texas needed a big fourth quarter (outscored Alabama 21-8) to seal the win, but it was impressive nonetheless. 

QB Quinn Ewers went 24/38 for 349 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. They won the turnover battle (2-0), as QB Jalen Milroe tossed two TDs and two INTs. Texas TE Ja’Tavion Sanders led the team in receiving yards (114), while WRs Adonai Mitchell (78) and Xavier Worthy (75) both had 75+ receiving yards in the win.

Texas jumped to #4 in this week’s AP poll. It’s the first time they’ve been ranked in the top 5 since 2010.

We’ll now jump into more big storylines in our NCAA football Week 2 report:

• #19 Wisconsin (22) vs. Washington State (31): Luke Fickell has his first loss with Wisconsin, as the Cougars won at home as +5 underdogs after storming out to a 24-9 halftime lead.

• #20 Ole Miss (37) vs. #24 Tulane (20): In one of two games between ranked opponents, Tulane held strong and were tied 17-17 entering the final quarter, but Ole Miss went on a 20-3 run.

• Nebraska (14) vs. #22 Colorado (36): The opening quarter was scoreless, but Colorado woke up, scoring 13 (Q2), 10 (Q3) and 13 (Q4) to close out the game in dominating fashion. Shedeur Sanders went 31/42 for 393 yards and 2 TDs. He also added a touchdown on the ground.

• Appalachian State (34) vs. #17 North Carolina (40): UNC needed double-overtime to defeat the Mountaineers at home. QB Drake Maye struggled through the air, going 21/30 for 208 yards and 0 TDs, but he had 11 carries for 57 yards and 1 TD. The Tar Heels have some work to do.

• #12 Utah (20) vs. Baylor (13): Utah didn’t have a lead in this game until they scored a TD with 17 seconds left to take a 20-13 lead. QB Bryson Barnes was benched in the fourth quarter with the Utes down 13-6, but redshirt freshman Nate Johnson pulled off the comeback.

• #13 Oregon (38) vs. Texas Tech (30): Oregon survived a scare in Week 2. Down 27-18 at the end of the third quarter, the Ducks outscored the Red Raiders 20-3 in the fourth quarter to win. After taking a one-point lead with 1:10 left, an Oregon pick-six with 0:35 left sealed the cover.

• #23 Texas A&M (33) vs. Miami (48): Miami upset the Aggies at Hard Rock Stadium as small +3 underdogs. The Hurricanes are now ranked (#22) and have three easy matchups on deck.

• Stanford (10) vs. #6 USC (56): QB Caleb Williams appears unstoppable. USC were up 49-3 at halftime, allowing Williams to take the rest of the game off. Williams went 19/21 for 281 yards and 3 TDs through the air, plus he added a 21-yard touchdown on his only rush attempt.

• James Madison (36) vs. Virginia (35): In UVA’s first home game since a mass shooting shocked the community, James Madison spoiled the UVA Strong celebration by scoring a TD with 0:55 left in the game. RB Mike Hollins, who survived the mass shooting, scored two TDs in the game.

NCAA Football Week 2 Report – Betting Trends

We’re going to uncover some betting trends in our NCAA football Week 2 report.  

Here are some college football betting trends to consider when wagering on Week 3:

• Top 25 in Week 2: The top 25 teams went 13-11-1 ATS in Week 2 for a small profit (+$90). It was a far cry from the $610 profit made by flat betting top 25 teams in Week 1. The top five teams this week went 4-1 SU, but some of the spreads were too big to cover and they went 2-3 ATS.

• Pac-12 Keeps Rolling: After going 12-0 (10-2 ATS) in Week 1, Pac-12 teams went 8-4 (8-3-1 ATS) in Week 2. USC, Oregon, Colorado, Washington State, Arizona and California are 2-0 ATS.

• SEC Remain Overvalued: The SEC continues to be overvalued in non-conference games by bettors. SEC teams went 11-3 SU for the second consecutive week, but were 4-10 ATS.

• Notre Dame Leads the Way: Notre Dame have opened the season on a 3-0 (3-0 ATS) run and they’re -34 point favorites at home against Central Michigan on Saturday. There are 26 teams that are 2-0 ATS to begin the season and Utah remain undefeated (1-0-1 ATS).

What to Watch for Next Week in College Football

There aren’t a lot of marquee matchups in Week 3, but that’ll change once conference schedules pick up.

• #14 LSU vs. Mississippi State: LSU are -9.5 favorites on the road against Mississippi State in an SEC matchup. The Bulldogs are 2-0 and will be hungry to pull off an upset.

• South Carolina vs. #1 Georgia: This game would have a lot more hype if the Gamecocks had defeated UNC in Week 1. Georgia are -27.5 favorites, but can South Carolina keep it close?

• Minnesota vs. #20 North Carolina: Both teams are 2-0, but UNC are lucky, as they were almost upset by Appalachian State. Can the Golden Gophers go into Chapel Hill and find a way to win?

• #11 Tennessee vs. Florida: The Gators bounced back from a Week 1 loss, which was expected, but can the offense move the football in an SEC game against the Volunteers?

AP Top 25 Rankings Heading Into Week 3

Here are the new AP top 25 rankings heading into Week 3, which had quite a bit of movement:

Four teams received first place votes this week, as Texas shocked Alabama. The Longhorns moved up seven spots to #4 and are now in CFP discussion if they can keep winning. Alabama moved from #3 to #10 with the loss, but they could run the table if the defense improves.

#17 Ole Miss and #18 Colorado continue to move up the AP top 25 rankings. There were also changes at the bottom of the rankings, as Miami, Washington State, UCLA and Iowa are all ranked. Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Tulane and Clemson are no longer ranked this week.

Like in Week 1, three ranked teams lost in Week 2 (#3 Alabama, #19 Wisconsin and #23 Texas A&M).
