Champions League Futures Predictions – 2022/23 Summary
Firstly, I will be giving you a quick summary of what happened in last year’s Champions League. Every year, 32 of the best teams across Europe are drawn into eight groups of four. Below you can find the group winners and runners-up from the 2022/23 tournament:
- Group A: Napoli (Winners), Liverpool (Runners-Up)
- Group B: Porto (Winners), Club Brugge (Runners-Up)
- Group C: Bayern Munich (Winners), Inter Milan (Runners-Up)
- Group D: Tottenham Hotspur (Winners), Eintracht Frankfurt (Runners-Up)
- Group E: Chelsea (Winners), AC Milan (Runners-Up)
- Group F: Real Madrid (Winners), RB Leipzig (Runners-Up)
- Group G: Manchester City (Winners), Borussia Dortmund (Runners-Up)
- Group H: Benfica (Winners), Paris Saint-Germain (Runners-Up)
The top two teams from each group each season qualify for the knockout rounds. That means the top 16 teams from the group stage then go into two-legged ties to try and progress through: the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and onto the final.
English teams had the most group winners last season – Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City. Portugal had two group winners – Porto and Benfica – Italy (Napoli), Germany (Bayern Munich) and Spain (Real Madrid) all had one team each.
In total, all four English representatives qualified for the knockouts, the aforementioned group winners and Liverpool. That was followed by Italy who had three teams – Napoli were Group A winners, whilst Inter and Milan finished runners-up in their respective groups.
Germany also had three teams qualify for the knockouts – Bayern, Frankfurt and RB Leipzig. Real Madrid were the only Spanish team to reach the last 16, whilst PSG were the only French outfit. Club Brugge were the sole Belgian representatives. Our 2023/4 Champions League futures predictions are now coming up!

2023/24 Champions League Futures Predictions – Group Winner Odds & Picks
We have had a little recap of the teams who managed to qualify for the knockouts last season. Although different teams qualify for the competition each year, countries such as England usually dominate the competition.
Winning your group is extremely important too. That is because you will get a seemingly easier tie in the knockouts if you win your group. The group winners will go on to face the group runners-up in the round of 16.
So, let’s take a look at my Champions League futures predictions. Below I will give you the odds for all the teams to go on and win their respective groups and some best bets.
Group A: Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Copenhagen, Galatasaray
Group A Winner Odds:
- Bayern Munich (-200)
- Manchester United (+175)
- Galatasaray (+850)
- Copenhagen (+2800)
Bayern are the clear favorites to win the group and I can’t see them not doing so. They are one of the surest bets in my Champions League futures predictions. Manchester United have underwhelmed to start the season and it seems unlikely they would be able to perform better than Bayern.
It would be a huge surprise if either of Galatasaray or Copenhagen qualified into the knockouts, let alone if they won the group.
There doesn’t seem too much value in this one since Bayern are pretty short at -200. However, it isn’t the worst bet to place and they have topped the group for the past five straight seasons.
Best Bet: Bayern Munich (-200)
Group B: Sevilla, Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven, Lens
Group B Winner Odds:
- Arsenal (-200)
- Sevilla (+400)
- PSV Eindhoven (+500)
- Lens (+600)
The Gunners finished as runners-up in the Premier League last season and almost won the title but fell at the last hurdle as Man City were crowned champions.
Their impressive performances makes it come as little surprise that they are favorites to win the group, despite playing in the Champions League for the first time since the 2016/17 season.
It looks like a relatively kind draw for Arsenal. Sevilla will likely pose the biggest threat since they won the Europa League last season but they did finish 12th in La Liga. Away trips against PSV and Lens could be tough but Arsenal should get the job done.
Best Bet: Arsenal (-200)
Group C: Napoli, Real Madrid, Braga, Union Berlin
Group C Winner Odds:
- Real Madrid (-200)
- Napoli (+200)
- Braga (+900)
- Union Berlin (+900)
The most successful Champions League club in history occupy Group C as Real Madrid lead the market to win the group. They have finished first in their last three successive Champions League group stage appearances and it would be a surprise if they didn’t do it again here.
Napoli are the second favorites and most likely team to qualify out of the rest of the group. However, they do not look the same under Rudi Garcia this term as they did when Luciano Spalletti was in charge.
Braga and Union Berlin make up the rest of the group and it’s unlikely they can mount a serious charge to win it. Real Madrid are the best bet, especially after their strong start to the new campaign.
Best Bet: Real Madrid (-200)
Group D: Benfica, Inter, Red Bull Salzburg, Real Sociedad
Group D Winner Odds:
- Inter (-125)
- Benfica (+225)
- Real Sociedad (+450)
- Red Bull Salzburg (+700)
Last season’s finalists Inter appear to be the frontrunners in Group D. They failed to win their group last term, despite going on to reach the final, and haven’t topped a Champions League group since 2011/12. Nevertheless, they have blown Serie A away to start the new campaign.
Benfica looks to be where the value is at since they won Group H last season, up against the likes of heavyweights PSG and Juventus. The Portuguese outfit have performed well in Europe over the last couple of seasons and have reached the quarter-finals in successive campaigns.

Group E: Atletico Madrid, Celtic, Feyenoord, Lazio
Group E Winner Odds:
- Atletico Madrid (-165)
- Lazio (+250)
- Feyenoord (+500)
- Celtic (+800)
Perhaps one of the weaker groups in this year’s competition, Atletico Madrid are the favorites to win Group E. However, they finished bottom of Group B last season and have had a mixed start to their La Liga campaign.
Lazio are up next but have lost three out of their first four games in Serie A and don’t look the same as last term. They last made it out of the groups during the 2020/21 season after finishing in second.
This is a hard group to call and Feyenoord and Celtic seem too weak to be on with a chance at winning the group. Atletico Madrid seem too short of a price to trust.
Best Bet: Fade

Group F: Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain
Group F Winner Odds:
- PSG (+100)
- Newcastle (+200)
- Borussia Dortmund (+450)
- Milan (+450)
Group F is an incredibly competitive one. There are a host of top teams that occupy it and it looks set to be a thrilling group.
PSG have made an underwhelming start to their domestic campaign and, despite reaching the knockouts for the past 11 consecutive seasons, they have failed to win their group in each of their last two attempts.
Newcastle are playing in the Champions League for the first time since the 2003/04 season. Considering their poor start in the Premier League, odds of +200 don’t look the best value.
Despite not winning their group last season, Milan went on to reach the semi-finals last season and look solid under Stefano Pioli this term. However, they will need to bounce back from their heavy 5-1 defeat against rivals Inter at the weekend.

Group G: Red Star Belgrade, Manchester City, RB Leipzig, Young Boys
Group G Winner Odds:
- Manchester City (-1000)
- RB Leipzig (+550)
- Young Boys (+5500)
- Red Star Belgrade (+5500)
Group G doesn’t look the most competitive since Manchester City are in it. They are the current tournament holders and should dominate the group. Therefore, I am fading this bet in my Champions League futures predictions.
Odds of -1000 offer no real value to back them as group winners. Therefore, I would suggest not betting on the group winner for Group B.
City are the obvious choice to top the group, whilst Leipzig are definitely the strongest side out of the other four teams. The German outfit have got off to a good start in the Bundesliga too so should qualify with ease.
Best Bet: Fade
Group H: Barcelona, Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Royal Antwerp
Group H Winner Odds:
- Barcelona (-275)
- Porto (+225)
- Shakhtar Donetsk (+1750)
- Royal Antwerp (+1800)
My final Champions League futures predictions come from Group H. Five-time tournament winners Barcelona are the market leaders in the final group of this year’s Champions League. However, they have failed to get out of their group for the past two seasons and haven’t won their group across their last three attempts.
Like their fellow Portuguese competitors Benfica, Porto seems to have the best value. They won their group last season, finishing ahead of Club Brugge, Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid. They have made an unbeaten start to their domestic campaign too, winning four out of their last five games.
