Our Premier League Matchweek 5 review examines the recent results and highlights all the key EPL betting trends. Ready? Let’s get this show on the road!

Matchweek 5 Premier League Results

It only makes sense to begin our Premier League Matchweek 5 review by assessing the results, right? A total of 10 clashes took place between Saturday and Monday, producing goals, comebacks, red cards and plenty of drama.

  • Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-3 Liverpool
  • Fulham 1-0 Luton Town
  • Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Sheffield United
  • West Ham United 1-3 Manchester City
  • Manchester United 1-3 Brighton & Hove Albion
  • Aston Villa 3-1 Crystal Palace
  • Newcastle United 1-0 Brentford
  • Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea
  • Everton 0-1 Arsenal
  • Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley

Fulham, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United all triumphed on home soil last weekend, while Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal tasted victory on the road.

As you can see, four of the opening six Matchweek 5 clashes ended 3-1. Brighton humiliated Manchester United at Old Trafford, while Villa scored three goals after the 87-minute mark to defeat Crystal Palace 3-1.

There were also just two draws during Matchweek 5, with Bournemouth holding Chelsea and Burnley holding Nottingham Forest. Believe it or not, the goalless stalemate between Bournemouth and Chelsea was the first 0-0 of the season.

Now that you’re up to speed on the Matchweek 5 Premier League results, it’s time to discuss all the standout EPL betting trends.

Key Betting Trends – Premier League Matchweek 5 Review

In this section of our Premier League Matchweek 5 review, we take an in-depth look at the important numbers behind the results.

With Matchweek 5 in the books, we now have plenty of data and statistics to analyze. Useful trends are beginning to emerge in the EPL, providing bettors with lots of helpful pointers when it comes to wagering on the division.

Below, we cover some basic Premier League trends that every bettor should be aware of. On top of that, we share useful goal stats such as totals, BTTS and clean sheets, in addition to player stats like goals and assists.

Basic Premier League Betting Trends After Matchweek 5

Which team has taken 15 points from a possible 15 this season? Which team has failed to pick up a single point? Who received a red card during Matchweek 5? We answer those questions – and a whole lot more – in this segment of our Premier League Matchweek 5 review.

  • Manchester City (W5) is the only team with a 100% record in the Premier League
  • By contrast, Luton Town (L4) is the only time without a single point this season
  • Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal (W4, D1) remain unbeaten in 2023-24
  • Burnley, Everton, Sheffield United and Bournemouth have failed to taste victory
  • Bournemouth and Chelsea played out the first goalless draw of the season last weekend
  • Two players – Sheff Utd’s Oli McBurnie and Burnley’s Lyle Foster – were sent off

Manchester City boasts a 100% record in 2023-24, while Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal have all registered four wins and one draw. On the flip side, Luton remains without a point this season. Burnley, Everton, Sheff Utd and Bournemouth have also failed to win.

With a total of 49 games in the books, there has been only one goalless draw this term. This is worth considering when it comes to betting on the EPL goal markets, handicaps, totals and similar markets.

Premier League Betting Trends – Goals

Now, let’s take a look at the standout goal trends in the Premier League. Believe it or not, one team averages 2.5 goals per game after five clashes, while a couple of teams have netted a measly two goals this season.

  • Brighton (15) has scored the most goals in the Premier League this season
  • Man City (14), Tottenham (13) and Liverpool (12) are the next highest scorers
  • Luton (2) and Everton (2) are the lowest scorers in the EPL this term
  • Man City (3) have conceded the fewest goals in 2023-24
  • Burnley (12) have conceded the most goals in the EPL this season
  • Brighton and West Ham possess a 100% BTTS ratio in the league
  • All of Brighton and Villa’s clashes have produced over 2.5 goals this term
  • Five of the 10 Matchweek 5 clashes dished up over 2.5 goals
  • Fulham, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Arsenal kept a clean sheet last time out

With 15 goals in the bank, Brighton is the league’s highest-scoring team. The Seagulls have bagged over 2.5 goals in four of their five matches so far, putting four past both Luton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Luton and Everton have managed to score just twice in 2023-24. If you enjoy utilizing the clean sheet market, backing Luton and Everton’s opponents to achieve a shutout is a smart move.

Both teams have scored in each of Brighton and West Ham’s games this season, while all of Brighton and Aston Villa’s games have dished up over 2.5 goals. These trends could help you make a tasty profit during Matchweek 6.

Premier League Betting Trends – Player Stats

Last but not least, here are the key player stats to consider when it comes to betting on the Premier League. Several attackers have hit the ground running this season, while a handful of goalkeepers have kept multiple clean sheets.

  • Erling Haaland took his tally for the season to seven goals in five EPL games last time out
  • Even Ferguson, Bryan Mbeumo and Odsonne Edouard have each scored four goals
  • Taiwo Awoniyi has bagged nine goals and two assists in his last nine Premier League games
  • Julian Alvarez and Mohamed Salah have both notched two goals and four assists
  • Pedro Neto is the league’s joint-top assist-getter with four in five games
  • Ederson, Guglielmo Vicario, Robert Sanchez and Bernd Leno have kept two clean sheets

If you’re familiar with the Premier League, you won’t be surprised that Erling Haaland leads the Golden Boot race after five games. The prolific Man City striker has netted seven goals in five outings, including a hat-trick against Fulham.

Thanks to a strong end to the previous campaign, Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi has racked up nine goals and two assists in his last nine EPL appearances. Elsewhere, Julian Alvarez and Mohamed Salah have bagged two goals and four assists this term.

Only four goalkeepers – Ederson, Guglielmo Vicario, Robert Sanchez and Bernd Leno – have kept more than one clean sheet this season. This indicates that Premier League matches are producing fewer shutouts in 2023-24.
