Tonight, we are blessed with an NFC matchup on Thursday night football. It’s actually the first of three straight NFC clashes on Thursday night. Weeks 3, 4, and 5 all feature NFC teams, one of which is a Lions-Packers divisional matchup in Week 4. Whatever the matchup, Sports Hub is your daily capper providing you with all the analysis, content, and TNF picks to make this Thursday a special one.
It will be the San Francisco 49ers hosting the New York Giants tonight. The big news out of New York is the injury to RB Saquon Barkley. Last week against the Cardinals, the Giants fell behind 20-0 in the first half. Barkley helped key a Giants comeback with two touchdowns, one on the ground and one on a reception from QB Daniel Jones. Barkley would rush for 63 yards and catch 6 passes before he suffered a sprained ankle and had to leave the game. He will not play in tonight’s game. That is one of the reasons why the Giants are a 10.5-point road underdog.
Let’s Look at the NFC
The National Football Conference (NFC) is, like the AFC, made up of 16 teams divided into four divisions – North, South, East, and West. The Giants play in the NFC East where the Cowboys, Eagles, and Commanders are all 2-0 so far. The Eagles lost in last year’s Super Bowl and are one of the favorites (+750) to win it this year. In fact, three of the top four favorites are NFC teams. The Chiefs are the overall favorite at +700. San Francisco (+700), the Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys (+850) round out the top-4.
If there is an NFC team that could surprise fans, it’s the Detroit Lions. The Lions actually beat the Chiefs in the NFL’s annual kickoff game in Week 1’s Thursday night football game. Detroit is a long shot to win the Super Bowl at +2600, but the roster is improved and head coach Dan Campbell is doing a great job at building his team’s confidence.
Tonight, we will get a primetime look at 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey. With all of the talk about how running backs struggle to find their place in modern football, McCaffrey is reminding the game that running backs have a place. His running and receiving skills are changing the game and changing how teams view running backs. The Lions drafted Jahmyr Gibbs out of Alabama because he has McCaffrey-like skills. With those skills, check the SportsHub members’ area to see if any of our handicappers have props picks for tonight’s NFC clash.
It’s Deja Vu All Over Again

- Double dose: He didn’t want to relinquish his top spot on the board, so Geovanny Araya dialed up some more wins. He went 3-2 on his five soccer picks, but he had three huge wins to pocket $550. That means Geovanny has won $1590 over just the last three days! He’s tops on our 30-day leaderboard now with earnings of $2011. Even if you don’t bet on soccer, you might want to take a look at Geovanny and hop on his money train.

- Al & Jhon: Two more Sports Hub exclusive cappers occupied the No. 3 and 4 slots yesterday. Al Grant won $305 by going 3-0 yesterday. Jhon Walsh also went 3-0 – all MLB picks – and won $300. Jhon is No. 3 on our 7-day MLB board. He has won $492 betting on baseball this week.
- My cousin is killing it: Since he’s family, I have to give some props to my guy, Computer Picks. He went 3-1 yesterday and won $132. In his last 10 picks, he has won seven and he continues to win at a nearly 60 percent clip. Watch the SportsHub members’ area for picks on tonight’s NFC matchup on TNF. What’s Trending in Sports Today
Thursday means football and we get a couple of teasers to ease us into the weekend. The NFC starts a three-week run on Thursday Night Football. We get a Sun Belt matchup as college football kicks off Week 4. Lionel Messi is back in the news
- Sun wins: Connecticut secured a spot in its fifth straight WNBA semifinals with a 90075 win over Minnesota. Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner combined for 53 points to lead the Sun. Connecticut will face No. 2 seed New York in Game 1 of the semifinals on Sunday.
- More injuries: Messi Miami may be an understatement. The superstar and his teammate Jordi Alba both left Inter Miami CF’s MLS match with Toronto last night with injuries. The injuries were referred to as “muscle fatigue” and both will be evaluated in the coming days. Neither will play this Sunday. Miami won last night’s match 4-0.

- NFC on TNF: If you haven’t figured it out by now, the Giants and 49ers play tonight on the NFL’s Thursday Night Football. It’s the first of three straight NFC matchups on TNF.
- Notre Dame: The Irish are trending as they prepare for Saturday night’s clash with Ohio State. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 6 and Notre Dame enters at No. 9. The Fighting Irish are planning to pull out their green jerseys for Saturday. There is a long history with Notre Dame and the green jerseys.
- Cam Akers trade: Akers is trending after the Rams decided to trade the running back to the Minnesota Vikings. Akers was inactive for last week’s Rams game and has had some issues with head coach Sean McVay. A new start with a new team might revive his career.
NFC Matchup Tops the Thursday Sports Schedule
Yes, it’s Thursday night and we get the pleasure and privilege of an NFL game and a CFB game too. There is plenty of other sports action on the schedule. The MLB playoff race is heating up as the regular season nears its end. A ton of international soccer is on the docket and bettors may want to check out our very own Geovanny Araya. The guy is absolutely crushing his soccer picks!
Anyway, here’s a look at today’s schedule.
- TNF: As mentioned, the NFC will be featured on TNF over the next three weeks. Tonight, it’s the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The Niners are 10.5-point favorites heading into tonight. It’s a rivalry that has had some great games.

- College football: It is Thursday and, along with tonight’s NFC clash, there is some college football as well. It’s only one game, but it’s a Sun Belt matchup of two pretty good football teams. Coastal Carolina (2-1) hosts Georgia State (3-0). Coastal is a 7-point favorite and the Chanticleers have won 9 of their last 10 at home.
- Soccer: As has been the case for the last few weeks, there is a ton of soccer on the schedule. The women dominate today as there are a number of women’s international friendlies on tap. There is also a full slate of NCAA women’s matches. The UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League are both in action today. Bettors will also find the South American professional leagues playing today.
- Tennis in China: The Chengdu Open and the Huafa Properties Zhuhai Championships both continue today in China. Three women’s tournaments – Guadalajara Open Akron, Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open, and the Parma Ladies Open – are also being played today. Check the member’s area for tennis picks.
- Baseball: There are 9 games on the MLB schedule today. The AL West battle continues. Houston (85-68) leads the Rangers (84-68) and Mariners (84-68) by a half-game. Tampa Bay (93-60) or Baltimore (95-57) will lock down the AL’s top wild card. Right now, Toronto (85-67) owns the second wild card. That means one of the AL West teams is likely out of the postseason. Houston, Seattle, and Texas are all off today. The Rangers and Mariners begin a weekend series tomorrow.
That’s definitely enough to keep us occupied until we get to another big football weekend. Let us help you prepare with our Week 4 NCAA football picks page and our Week 3 NFL picks page. These are both full of everything you need – tons of picks, especially – to have success this weekend at the ticket window.
