SportsHub Tennis Report – ATP Features 2 Upcoming Events

Whether you’re an experienced tennis handicapper or you’re fresh on the scene, our latest SportsHub tennis report will help you when it comes to betting on the upcoming ATP events.

The Grand Slam tournaments may be finished for the year, but there are still plenty of exciting ATP events to bet on. In fact, the Astana Open and the China Open are right around the corner.

This SportsHub tennis report covers all the latest ATP news, previews both upcoming tournaments and serves up a ton of useful betting advice along the way. Let’s get right into it.

SportsHub Tennis Report – Latest ATP News

It only makes sense to begin our SportsHub tennis report by going over the latest ATP news. The 2023 ATP Tour started back in December 2022 and is scheduled to finish in November, with a total of 68 tournaments on the calendar.

With six titles to his name, Carlos Alcaraz has won the most tournaments this year. The 20-year-old Spaniard has also reached the most finals in 2023, winning six and losing two.

As it stands, Novak Djokovic is the prize money leader with $10,590,175. The legendary 36-year-old is also the points leader with 8,945, which is no surprise when you look at the list of ATP Grand Slam winners for 2023.

2023 ATP TOUR GRAND SLAM WINNERS

  • Australian Open – Winner: Novak Djokovic / Runner-Up: Stefanos Tsitsipas
  • French Open – Winner: Novak Djokovic / Runner-Up: Casper Ruud
  • Wimbledon – Winner: Carlos Alcaraz / Runner-Up: Novak Djokovic
  • US Open – Winner: Novak Djokovic / Runner-Up: Daniil Medvedev

As you can see, Djokovic has won three of the four Grand Slam tournaments this year. Not only did he triumph at the Australian Open, French Open and US Open, but he also reached the Wimbledon final.

Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, adding to his US Open triumph in 2022. Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev all finished as runners-up, highlighting strong personal seasons.

2023 Astana Open Preview

  • Dates: September 27 – October 3
  • Venue: National Tennis Center, Astana, Kazakhstan
  • Category: ATP Tour 250
  • Surface: Hard (Indoor)
  • Prize Money: $1,017,850

The fourth edition of the Astana Open gets underway on Wednesday, September 27. The ATP Tour 250 event will take place at Kazakhstan’s National Tennis Center, offering a prize pool of $1,017,850.

Novak Djokovic is the reigning champion, but the 24-time Grand Slam champion will not return to defend his crown this year. Instead, he will prioritize the Masters 1000 in Shanghai.

Here are the seeds for the 2023 Astana Open.

2023 ASTANA OPEN SEEDS

  1. Tallon Griekspoor (#24)
  2. Sebastian Baez (#27)
  3. Jiri Lehecka (#28)
  4. Adrian Mannarino (#32)
  5. Sebastian Korda (#34)
  6. Alexander Bublik (#35)
  7. Laslo Djere (#37)
  8. Alexei Popyrin (#43)

In comparison to last year, the 2023 Astana Open is not a big spectacle. Five top-10 players featured in the 2022 Astana Open, with Djokovic lifting the trophy. This year, however, there are no top-20 players taking part.

Sitting at #24 in the ATP Rankings, Tallon Griekspoor is the highest-ranked player in this year’s field, while Sebastian Baez (#27) and Jiri Lehecka (#28) are the only other players in the top 30.

Astana Open Betting Advice

We are still waiting for the bookies to release their 2023 Astana Open odds, but you can expect to find Griekspoor and Baez at the top of the list. Griekspoor and Baez have both claimed two titles this season, so they will be favored to secure the silverware in Kazakhstan.

Adrian Mannarino, Alexander Bublik and Alexei Popyrin have also clinched ATP titles in 2023. Their outright odds are bound to be higher than Griekspoor and Baez’s, making them solid value plays.

If you’re looking for a 2023 Astana Open sleeper, look no further than Stan Wawrinka. The former world #3 is not seeded for this tournament, but he does have three Grand Slam titles to his name. Let’s not forget that Wawrinka has defeated both Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in Grand Slam finals.

2023 China Open Preview

  • Dates: September 28 – October 4
  • Venue: Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Centre, Beijing, China
  • Category: ATP Tour 500
  • Surface: Hard (Indoor)
  • Prize Money: $3,633,875

While this year’s Astana Open is a relatively low-profile tournament, the 2023 China Open will feature many of the sport’s biggest stars. In fact, eight of the world’s top 10 men’s singles players will compete at the 22nd edition of the China Open, fighting for a share of the $3,633,875 prize pool.

Let’s take a look at the seeds for the 2023 China Open.

2023 CHINA OPEN SEEDS

  1. Carlos Alcaraz (#2)
  2. Daniil Medvedev (#3)
  3. Holger Rune (#4)
  4. Stefanos Tsitsipas (#5)
  5. Andrey Rublev (#6)
  6. Jannik Sinner (#7)
  7. Casper Ruud (#9)
  8. Alexander Zverev (#10)

Djokovic and Taylor Fritz are the only top-10 players missing from the China Open field. With multiple world-class stars vying for the trophy in Beijing, this year’s tournament is set to be extremely competitive.

Like the Astana Open, the bookies have not released their 2023 China Open odds at this stage. However, that won’t stop us from sharing some betting tips for the tournament in our SportsHub tennis report.

China Open Betting Advice

It’s fair to say that Alcaraz is the favorite to win the 2023 China Open. In addition to defeating Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, Alcaraz reached the semifinals at both the French Open and US Open, underlining his ability.

That said, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud have also reached Grand Slam finals this year. Medvedev is expected to be Alcaraz’s biggest challenger in Beijing, as the 2021 US Open winner has reached five Grand Slam finals since 2019.

In terms of sleepers and value plays, keep an eye out for Andy Murray and Tomas Marin Etcheverrey. Murray is an 11-time Grand Slam finalist with three titles to his name, while Etcheverrey reached the quarterfinals of the French Open earlier this year.
