We have winning 2023 CFL Grey Cup predictions for this Sunday. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will play against the Montreal Alouettes with everything on the line at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Blue Bombers went 14-4 (11-7 ATS) during the regular season and they defeated the BC Lions in the Western Final. The Alouettes went 11-7 (10-7-1 ATS) in the regular season. Montreal defeated Hamilton in the Eastern Semi-Finals and then pulled off a huge upset against Toronto in the Eastern Final.

Winnipeg are big favorites (-7.5), but underdogs are 6-2 ATS in the last eight Grey Cups. Five of the last eight Grey Cups have had a winning margin of six points or less. The game total is 47 points. Six of the last eight Grey Cups have gone under the total. Will these Grey Cup betting trends continue?

Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes Prediction

Let’s jump into our Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes preview and CFL Grey Cup predictions.

  • When: Sunday, November 19th at 6:00 PM ET
  • Where: Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario
  • Opening Spread: Blue Bombers -7.5 / Current Spread: Blue Bombers -7.5
  • Opening Total: 46.5 Points / Current Total: 47 Points

The Alouettes didn’t perform well against the Blue Bombers in the regular season. Winnipeg went 2-0 (2-0 ATS). The Bombers won in Week 4 on the road (17-3) and Week 12 at home (47-17). The over/under was split (1-1). Montreal are going to need to score a lot more if they want to pull off the upset.

Winnipeg have won two of the last three Grey Cups (2019 and 2021). The Alouettes last won a Grey Cup in 2010, which is also the last time they participated in the championship game. The public will be betting on the Blue Bombers to cover ATS, but should you add them to your Grey Cup predictions?

The Blue Bombers averaged 33.0 PPG (1st), 292.4 PYPG (2nd) and 139.1 RYPG (1st) on offense in the regular season. Not many defenses were able to limit Zach Collaros and Brady Oliveira. The Alouettes allowed 21.8 PPG (2nd), 239.1 PYPG (2nd) and 109.9 RYPG (5th) during the regular season.

One way the Als could win is by winning the turnover battle. Montreal had a +14 turnover margin (2nd) in the regular season, as they only made 34 turnovers (3rd) and forced 48 turnovers (2nd). The Alouettes defense forced one fumble and intercepted Chad Kelly four times in the Eastern Finals last weekend.

Montreal’s offense averaged 24.6 PPG (4th), 250.0 PYPG (6th) and 102.2 RYPG (5th) during the regular season. They’re scoring 32.5 PPG in the playoffs. Montreal have won seven games in a row. On defense, the Bombers allowed 20.9 PPG (1st), 229.4 PYPG (1st) and 90.4 RYPG (3rd) in the regular season.

Collaros led the CFL in passing TDs (33) and Oliveira was tied for first in rushing TDs (9). Oliveira had 1,534 rushing yards in the regular season (1st). William Stanback had 800 rushing yards (8th).

Another area where the Bombers have the edge is in the trenches. Winnipeg made 53 sacks (3rd) and allowed 33 sacks (2nd), while the Alouettes made 41 sacks (T6) and allowed 61 sacks (8th).

CFL Grey Cup Predictions – Touchdown Scorers

I have a pair of touchdown scorer Grey Cup predictions.

  • Kenny Lawler to Score a Touchdown (-110)

Collaros struggled last week, as he went 14/21 for 158 yards and 0 TDs. Lawler led the Blue Bombers in targets (8), receptions (6) and receiving yards (83) last week. He almost hauled in a TD last week, but a Lions defender kicked the football right out of his hands as he was attempting to make the catch.

Lawler had six TDs in the regular season (T5), but he only played in twelve games. After scoring six TDs in his first eight games, he hasn’t scored a TD in his last five games. That’ll change on Sunday.

  • Tyson Philpot to Score a Touchdown (+195)

Philpot to score a TD is one of my top Grey Cup predictions, as he’s almost paying 2/1 odds. Philpot had a TD in his last four regular season games and five of his last six. Philpot has had nine receptions for 81 receiving yards in the CFL playoffs, but he hasn’t been able to find the endzone yet.

The Alouettes need Cody Fajardo to have a huge game to pull off this upset. Fajardo has three passing TDs in the playoffs and two INTs. Philpot should get 5+ targets and he’s a threat in the red zone.

CFL Grey Cup Predictions – Player Props

Here are my top two Grey Cup predictions for the player props betting market:

  • Brady Oliveira Over 92.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

The Blue Bombers had a game plan last week and that was to run the football. Oliveira had 21 carries for 109 yards and 1 TD last weekend. With the Alouettes defense being stout against the pass and great at forcing turnovers, Oliveira will likely get 20+ carries again, which will be plenty for this prop to cash.

Oliveira has had 100+ rushing yards in eight games this season. James Butler averaged 6.4 yards per carry against Montreal two weeks ago and A.J. Ouellette averaged 5.1 yards per carry last week.

  • Austin Mack Under 58.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Mack has struggled down the stretch this season. Mack hasn’t had 59+ receiving yards in his last seven games. He has only caught seven of 13 targets in the CFL playoffs. The Blue Bombers have the best passing defense in the league and they’re going to smother Mack all game.
