Following five weeks of exhilarating action, the time has come to lock in your 2023 Cricket World Cup final prediction.

On Sunday, November 19, India and Australia will battle it out for the trophy at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Will the host nation reign supreme? Or can the Aussies spoil the party?

I will be sharing my Cricket World Cup final prediction a little later. First, let’s evaluate the finalists’ journeys and discuss all the key betting trends ahead of the showpiece.

How Did India and Australia Reach the Final?

The 2023 Cricket World Cup started all the way back on October 5. Since then, the tournament has served up 47 matches, leaving two teams to compete for the silverware on Sunday.

Funnily enough, India and Australia kicked off their campaigns against one another. The Aussies were bowled out for 199 in Chennai, enabling India to secure a six-wicket victory with 52 balls to spare.

The Indians may have claimed the bragging rights last time around, but Australia has gathered momentum since then. Before we dive into my Cricket World Cup final prediction, let’s take a closer look at both sides.

India’s 100% Record on Home Soil

India entered the 2023 Cricket World Cup as the bookies’ favorite, and the host nation has lived up to expectations. In fact, the Men in Blue have enjoyed 10 perfect results on home soil, avoiding defeat in the process.

After defeating Australia in the opening match, India thrashed Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh before edging out New Zealand. Rahul Dravid’s men have thrashed England by 100 runs, Sri Lanka by 302 runs, South Africa by 243 runs and the Netherlands by 160 runs.

On Wednesday, the hosts punched their ticket to the final with a 70-run win against New Zealand. Now, Team India is one victory away from clinching a third Cricket World Cup title.

Australia’s World Cup Know-How

It would not be unfair to say that Australia made a slow start to the tournament. After losing against India, the Aussies suffered a 134-run thrashing at the hands of South Africa, managing just 177 runs in response to SA’s 311/7.

Since then, however, Australia has racked up eight straight wins. Granted, Andrew McDonald’s men have not been as convincing as the Indians, but they have done enough to get over the line.

Not only have the Australians won four of the last six Cricket World Cups, but they have also won five of the previous nine. At the end of the day, Australia knows what it takes to go all the way in the sport’s biggest tournament.

Key Cricket World Cup Betting Trends – India and Australia

It’s almost time for me to reveal my 2023 Cricket World Cup prediction. Before we go any further, though, I want to share some stats with you. If you utilize these trends to aid your bets, you will only enhance your chances of winning.

  • India has won all 10 games at the 2023 Cricket World Cup
  • Australia has recorded eight wins and two losses
  • India defeated Australia by six wickets during the group stage
  • Australia enters the final on an eight-game winning streak
  • India’s Virat Kohli (711) is the tournament’s leading run-scorer
  • Rohit Sharma (550) and Shreyas Iyer (526) are also in the top 10
  • Australia’s David Warner (528) and Mitch Marsh (426) are sixth and ninth
  • Glen Maxwell (201*) has the tournament’s highest score
  • Kohli (101.57) boasts the best batting average
  • India’s Mohammad Shami (23) is the leading wicket-taker
  • Australia’s Adam Zampa (22) sits second on the wickets leaderboard
  • Shami (7/57) also possesses the tournament’s best bowling figures

India heads into the final on a 10-game winning streak, while Australia enters the showpiece on an eight-game winning streak. In terms of form, there is very little between the two sides right now.

Team India has three of the tournament’s top seven run scorers, including Virat Kohli, who has racked up 117 runs more than his nearest challenger. As for the Aussies, they have three of the top 12 run scorers, with Glen Maxwell possessing the highest individual score.

In terms of the bowlers, India’s Mohammad Shami has taken more wickets than anyone else, although Australia’s Adam Zampa is just one wicket behind. It is also worth noting that Shami has achieved three of the best five bowling figures.

2023 Cricket World Cup Final Prediction

Odds: India (-250); Australia (+162)

There is no denying that India has been the best team over the past five weeks. Kohli and co. have made light work of almost every opponent and found a way to win their toughest challenges.

After winning four consecutive matches by 100+ runs, the Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in Wednesday’s semifinal. Kohli and Iyer both scored a century, while Subman Gill smashed 80* off 66 balls. Plus, Shammi posted figures on 7/57 with the ball.

The Aussies, meanwhile, claimed a three-wicket victory over South Africa to book their place in the final. Following standout displays with the ball and in the field, Australia coasted to the target with 16 balls to spare.

Australia’s team is stacked with world-class players, including David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc. That said, India arguably boasts the strongest roster in the tournament, and the home conditions also favor the Men in Blue.

Sunday’s showpiece is destined to be a close-fought battle between two elite teams. However, I can’t look past India when making my 2023 Cricket World Cup final prediction.

It’s Time to Make Your Cricket World Cup Final Prediction

My 2023 Cricket World Cup final prediction is in the books. India has been the best team for the duration of the tournament, so I’m backing the hosts to complete the job on Sunday.

Of course, Australia won’t go down without a fight. Having won four of the previous six Cricket World Cups, the Aussies will push India all the way in Ahmedabad. Still, the Men in Blue should be too strong.
