Premier League Matchweek 21 Review – Stats & Betting Trends

In truth, this is the important section of our Premier League Matchweek 21 review, especially when it comes to betting. Below, we highlight all the important stats and trends that EPL bettors need to know about.

Which team boasts a 14-game unbeaten streak? Who has racked up the most goals and assists this season? Which teams have the highest and lowest BTTS ratios in the division? Lucky for you, we answer all those questions and more.

If you’re serious about taking your EPL betting to the next level, this section of our Premier League Matchweek 21 review is for you. The following information will stand you in good stead for beating bookies.

MW21 Key Premier League Trends

Following the 4-0 demolition on the south coast, Liverpool’s lead at the summit has extended to five points. Not only have Jurgen Klopp’s men avoided defeat in each of their last 14 league games, but they have also avoided defeat in 20 of their 21 PL outings this season.

  • Liverpool’s unbeaten streak in the Premier League stands at 14 games
  • Man City and West Ham are now unbeaten in five league outings
  • Brentford ended a five-game losing run with victory over Forest
  • Sheff Utd’s winless run now stands at five matches
  • Liverpool has the most wins (14) and the fewest losses (1)
  • Sheff Utd has the fewest wins (2) and the joint-most losses (15)
  • Brighton (8) has recorded more draws than any other team

Man City and West Ham are on the up thanks to a run of five matches without a loss. By contrast, Sheff Utd has failed to taste victory in five games. As a result, the Blades remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Premier League Goal Trends After MW21

A whopping 646 goals have been scored in the Premier League this season, producing an average of 3.11 goals per game. To put things into perspective, the EPL averaged 2.85 goals per game last term.

  • There were two goalless draws during Matchweek 21
  • Six of the 10 MW21 clashes produced over 3.5 goals
  • Both teams scored in 50% of the Matchweek 21 encounters
  • Arsenal scored five goals for the second time this season
  • Man City (48) has scored the most goals in the PL this term
  • Liverpool (18) boasts the best defensive record in the division
  • Sheff Utd has the worst offensive record (17) and the worst defensive record (51)
  • Brighton (86%) has the highest BTTS ratio
  • Everton (33%) has the lowest BTTS ratio

Man City, Arsenal, Brentford and Liverpool each scored over 2.5 goals during MW21. On the flip side, Fulham, Everton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton and Wolves all failed to find the back of the net.

Key Player Stats for Premier League Bettors

Brentford’s Ivan Toney returned from his eight-month gambling ban to score against Nottingham Forest, but he wasn’t the only player to make headlines during MW21. Indeed, three players scored braces on the weekend.

  • Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both scored twice for Liverpool in MW21
  • Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli also bagged a brace for Arsenal
  • Kevin De Bruyne notched a goal and an assist for Man City
  • Erling Haaland (14) and Mohamed Salah (14) lead the Golden Boot race
  • Salah (8) and Ollie Watkins (8) are tied for most assists
  • Alisson (7) and Jordan Pickford (7) are tied for most clean sheets
  • Wes Foderingham (92) has made the most saves this season
  • Joao Palhinha (90) has made the most tackles in the division

With Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah both sidelined due to injury, players like Dominic Solanke (12), Son Heung-min (12) and Jarrod Bowen (11) have the chance to catch the Golden Boot frontrunners. At the opposite end of the pitch, Alisson and Jordan Pickford lead the race for the Golden Glove.
