Phoenix Open Tees Up Round 1 Today – February 8

Round 1 of the Phoenix Open will begin today at Scottsdale TPC in Scottsdale, Arizona. The world’s No. 1-ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler, is the overall favorite at +450 to win the event. He’s no stranger to the event. Scheffler won the Phoenix Open just last year. The Phoenix Open will take place over the next four days with the final round of the tournament set for Sunday. 

Starting on the same day as the NBA’s trade deadline, the Phoenix Open is one of the most popular tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule. It started 92 years ago at the Phoenix Country Club. The Phoenix Open was moved to its current home, the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale, in 1987. Interestingly, since 1973, the Phoenix Open has been played on the weekend of the Super Bowl. 5. NHL: There are seven NHL games tonight. ESPN will air Tampa Bay at the New York Islanders. The Lightning lost to the Rangers 3-1 last night on their current tour of the Big Apple.
6. Soccer: The international soccer schedule is a light one today. None of the top leagues play today and there are only 30 matches around the world today.
7. Tennis: It’s Round 2 in the three ATP tournaments currently being played – Cordoba Open, Open 13 Provence, and Dallas Open. It’s the same on the WTA Tour where the women are playing in Round 2 at the L&T Mumbai Open, Transylvania Open, and the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open.
