The SportsHub tennis experts have turned their attention to ABN AMRO Open predictions this week. Our team will be working hard to bring you the best bets throughout the ATP 500 tournament.
Four of the world’s top eight men’s singles players are in action at Rotterdam Ahoy, including world number-four Jannik Sinner. Last month, Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic on his way to clinching a maiden Grand Slam title in Australia.
With guys like Andrey Rublev, Grigor Dimitrov and Holger Rune also battling for the trophy in the Netherlands, Sinner won’t have it all his own way. So, keep reading to discover my 2024 ABN AMRO Open predictions and picks.
2024 ABN AMRO Open Preview
- Dates: February 12-18, 2024
- Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands
- Venue: Rotterdam Ahoy
- Surface: Hard, Indoor
- Category: ATP Tour 500
- Edition: 51st
The 51st edition of the ABN AMRO Open will take place between February 12 and February 18. Also known as the Rotterdam Open, the ATP 500 tournament comprises singles and doubles events, in addition to wheelchair events.
Daniil Medvedev is the reigning men’s singles champion, but the Russian is not competing at Rotterdam Ahoy this year. Medvedev defeated Sinner in last year’s final, so the newly-crowned Australian Open champion will be eager to go one better this time around.
It’s almost time for me to reveal my 2024 ABN AMRO Open predictions. Before we go any further, though, let’s evaluate the bookies’ outright odds to get a clearer picture of the men’s singles event.
He may look down, but @alexdeminaur is up and into the second round of the #abnamroopen. 🤘

Sinner (+130) heads into the tournament as the bookies’ clear favorite. After losing the 2023 ABN AMRO Open final, the 22-year-old Italian reached the Wimbledon semifinals before triumphing at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Rublev (+650) and Dimitrov (+750) also have history at Rotterdam Ahoy, with both players reaching the final in recent years. In 2018, Dimitrov lost to Roger Federer in the showpiece before Rublev lifted the trophy in 2021.
Rune (+800) is the other player who currently sits in the top eight of the ATP Rankings. The 20-year-old Dane has already featured in three Grand Slam quarterfinals during his short career, and big things are expected of him in the coming years.
If you’re looking for a couple of potential sleepers to back, look no further than Felix Auger-Aliassime (+1600) and Gael Monfils (+8000). Monfils defeated Auger-Aliassime in the 2020 ABN AMRO Open final to claim back-to-back titles in Rotterdam, while Auger-Aliassime triumphed in 2022.
One of the most appetizing first round encounters is underway. 👀

2024 ABN AMRO Open Predictions (Round of 16)
Due to the sheer number of high-profile players competing at this year’s tournament, I had plenty of fun making my ABN AMRO Open predictions.
My 2024 ABN AMRO Open predictions concern the round of 16 in the men’s singles event. All of my picks are for matches taking place on Wednesday, February 14, so be sure to lock in your bets before your Valentine’s Day activities get underway!
You will also be pleased to learn that my ABN AMRO Open predictions cover three of the tournament’s top-seven seeds. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Roman Safiullin vs. Holger Rune Prediction
Odds: Roman Safiullin (+120) / Holger Rune (-154)
Although Rune is only 20 years of age, he is already one of the most feared players on the ATP Tour. Not only is the Dane the world number seven, but he is also the third seed at this year’s ABN AMRO Open.
As for Roman Safiullin, he sits 39th in the ATP Rankings. The 26-year-old Russian enjoyed a solid 2023 season, reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals before losing the Chengdu Open final to Alexander Zverev.
Despite Safiullin’s impressive displays last year, I expect him to fall in the round of 16 on Wednesday. If Rune brings his best tennis to the court, Safiullin will struggle to keep pace with the rising star.
Best Bet: Holger Rune (-154)
Jannik Sinner vs. Botic van de Zandschulp Prediction
Odds: Jannik Sinner (-1000) / Botic van de Zandschulp (+600)
Sinner is riding the crest of a wave right now, having secured his first-ever Grand Slam title last month. As a result, the Italian enters the 2024 ABN AMRO Open as the number-one seed and the bookies’ favorite to lift the trophy.
The 22-year-old showed immense resilience to come back from two sets down in the Australian Open final, eventually defeating Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Let’s not forget that he also ended Djokovic’s AO reign on his way to glory.
Still, Botic van de Zandschulp will fancy his chances of upsetting the odds on Wednesday. The 28-year-old Dutchman has experience in the latter stages of Grand Slam tournaments, and he’s also reached two of 250 Series finals in recent years.

Grigor Dimitrov vs. Lorenzo Sonego Prediction
Odds: Grigor Dimitrov (-500) / Lorenzo Sonego (+350)
Following a couple of seasons in the tennis wilderness, Dimitrov appears to be rediscovering his best form. After reaching the Paris Masters final last year, the 32-year-old Bulgarian will be hopeful of enjoying a successful 2024 campaign.
It is important to remember that Dimitrov reached three Grand Slam semifinals and three Grand Slam quarterfinals between 2014 and 2021. Plus, he was ranked as high as world number three in his prime.
That said, Lorenzo Sonego will be confident of heaping more misery on Dimitrov. The 28-year-old Italian has featured in five ATP Series finals since 2019, triumphing on three occasions. That tells you everything you need to know about his ability.
