Karel Vejmelka set a personal best with 49 saves, and the Utah Hockey Club scored three goals within a rapid 2:19 stretch in the third period to clinch a 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in Salt Lake City. Nick Bjugstad netted two goals, and Michael Kesselring provided two assists to lead Utah. Jack McBain and Mikhail Sergachev also scored in the third-period onslaught.
With the game tied at 1-1 early in the third, Kesselring carried the puck into Carolina’s zone and set up McBain for the go-ahead goal. Just two minutes later, Sergachev and Bjugstad each added goals within 17 seconds of each other, giving Utah a commanding lead. Despite Carolina’s 50-21 advantage in shots and six power-play opportunities, Martin Necas’ power-play goal in the second period was the only score for the Hurricanes.

Maple Leafs 4, Capitals 3 (OT)
John Tavares scored the game-winning goal in overtime to complete a thrilling comeback as the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Washington Capitals 4-3 in Washington. Tavares, who also had an assist, secured the victory with just 47 seconds left in overtime, sliding the puck through the legs of Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson.
Toronto overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period, with William Nylander contributing a goal and an assist. Joseph Woll made 24 saves to secure the win, the Maple Leafs’ fourth in their last five games. Aliaksei Protas tallied a goal and an assist for Washington, while Thompson stopped 30 shots.
Avalanche 4, Kings 2
Mikko Rantanen recorded his ninth career hat trick and added an assist to power the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings in Denver. Rantanen’s go-ahead goal midway through the third period proved to be the game-winner, capping a dominant performance.
Artturi Lehkonen scored as well and picked up an assist, while Nathan MacKinnon contributed three assists for Colorado, now on a three-game win streak. Colorado goaltender Alexandar Georgiev made 13 saves to secure the win. Los Angeles goalie Darcy Kuemper left the game in the third period due to injury after making 18 saves. Backup David Rittich added four saves in relief, and Adrian Kempe scored both goals for the Kings.

Golden Knights 3, Ducks 2
Pavel Dorofeyev scored early in the third period, giving the Vegas Golden Knights a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Anaheim. Adin Hill made 22 saves, while Shea Theodore added two assists as Vegas earned just their second road win of the season.
Tomas Hertl and Nicolas Roy each scored for Vegas, which holds a strong 25-7-1 all-time record against Anaheim, including 11-4-1 at the Honda Center. Anaheim’s Brock McGinn and Frank Vatrano each scored, while Brett Leason recorded two assists. Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal finished with 36 saves, but Anaheim fell for the fifth time in six games.
Red Wings 3, Penguins 2 (OT)
Defenseman Simon Edvinsson scored 1:30 into overtime to lift the Detroit Red Wings over the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2. Patrick Kane scored a goal and registered an assist, while Jonatan Berggren also found the net for Detroit, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Cam Talbot made 31 saves to secure the win for the Red Wings. For Pittsburgh, Bryan Rust and Anthony Beauvillier scored, while Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 28 shots. The Penguins have now lost four of their last five games (1-2-2).
