Pius Suter and Erik Brannstrom also scored for the Canucks, while Kevin Lankinen improved to an NHL-record 10-0-0 on the road with 27 saves.
For Detroit, Jonatan Berggren, Alex DeBrincat, Michael Rasmussen, and Vladimir Tarasenko found the net, with Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin, and Marco Kasper each contributing two assists. McAvoy scored the first and last goals of Boston’s 4-0 run to start the game, while Cole Koepke (goal, assist) and David Pastrnak (goal in his 700th career game) also scored.
Montreal’s Cole Caufield scored two goals, Emil Heineman added one, and Nick Suzuki tallied two assists in the loss.

Sean Monahan recorded a goal and an assist as Columbus extended its point streak to six games by defeating host Chicago.
Damon Severson logged three assists, while Cole Sillinger and Zach Werenski each added two helpers for the Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins made 28 saves for Columbus, which improved to 5-0-1 in its past six games.
Connor Bedard registered a goal and an assist for the struggling Blackhawks, who have lost six of their past eight contests. Petr Mrazek stopped 30 shots in the loss.

Mason Marchment scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as Dallas downed visiting Winnipeg.
Wyatt Johnston and Roope Hintz also scored for Dallas, with Thomas Harley notching two assists. Jake Oettinger made 26 saves and added an assist to help the Stars secure their second straight win.
Adam Lowry provided Winnipeg’s only goal, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 28 shots in the Jets’ third straight loss. Winnipeg has now dropped four of its past five games.
