Sabalenka Survives Scare to Advance at Brisbane International
Top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka battled back from a first-set deficit to defeat 15th-seeded Yulia Putintseva 7-6 (2), 6-4 on Thursday in the Round of 16 at the Brisbane International.
Sabalenka rallied from 5-3 down in the opening set, using six aces and clutch play in key moments to seal the match in 1 hour and 49 minutes. The Belarusian remains a strong contender for the title despite the spirited challenge from Putintseva.
Meanwhile, third-seeded Daria Kasatkina and 10th-seeded Victoria Azarenka were both eliminated. Polina Kudermetova overcame Kasatkina 1-6, 6-2, 7-5, while Marie Bouzkova defeated Azarenka 6-4, 6-4.
Eighth-seeded Mirra Andreeva of Russia breezed past Linda Noskova 6-3, 6-0 in just 63 minutes. Other notable results included Ons Jabeur’s hard-fought 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 win over Elina Avanesyan, and Anhelina Kalinina’s commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory over Yuan Yue of China.

Madison Keys Cruises at ASB Classic
Top-seeded Madison Keys dominated Jaqueline Cristian with a 6-1, 6-2 victory to reach the quarterfinals of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand.
Keys took advantage of five double faults from Cristian and completed the match in just 67 minutes. She now faces fifth-seeded Clara Tauson in the next round.
Americans Hailey Baptiste, Alycia Parks, and Robin Montgomery also enjoyed success. Baptiste edged Jodie Burrage in a marathon 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (6) win, Parks dispatched Belgium’s Greet Minnen 7-5, 6-3, and Montgomery rolled past Nao Hibino 6-2, 6-2.
