Kecmanovic Stuns Bublik at Adelaide International

Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic upset sixth-seeded Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan with a decisive 6-4, 6-2 victory in the opening round of the Adelaide International. Kecmanovic’s strong baseline play overwhelmed Bublik, who was the only seeded player to fall on Tuesday.

Advancing to the next round were seventh-seeded Brandon Nakashima, who outlasted Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, and eighth-seeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina, who defeated Australia’s Tristan Schoolkate 7-6 (8), 6-3. Rinky Hijikata, another Australian, impressed with a straight-sets win over Belgium’s David Goffin.

Additional victors included French players Arthur Cazaux and Manuel Guinard, as well as American Marcos Giron.

Jakub Mensik Makes History at ASB Classic

Nineteen-year-old Jakub Mensik of the Czech Republic became the youngest winner at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, since 2018. Mensik defeated Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta, a lucky loser, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in a match lasting over two hours. Mensik hammered 18 aces to seal his memorable victory and will face top seed Ben Shelton next.

American Nishesh Basavareddy celebrated his first ATP Tour main draw win with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Argentina’s Francisco Comesana, another lucky loser.

Other notable winners included 38-year-old Gael Monfils of France, the oldest winner in Auckland since 1971, along with Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany. Italians Luca Nardi and Lorenzo Sonego, as well as Argentines Mariano Navone and Facundo Diaz Acosta, also advanced to the next round.
