The PGA heads to Minnesota this week and we have uncovered the best 2023 3M Open picks. This will be the second-last golf tournament before the FedExCup Playoffs begin in two weeks.

Several players are still fighting for a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs (top 70). Davis Thompson (72nd), Lee Hodges (74th), Justin Thomas (75th), Justin Suh (76th) and Cam Davis (77th) are all in the field.

The 2023 3M Open will be hosted at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

2023 Open Championship Results

Brian Harman dominated the 2023 Open Championship, winning with a score of -13. Four golfers were tied for second place with a score of -7 (Sepp Straka, Jason Day, Tom Kim and Jon Rahm).

After it was all said and done, I (SWJ Sports) made a profit of $105 last week after hitting on Harman and Kim to finish in the top 10. View my entire Open Championship picks article. Letā€™s keep the profits going this week with my 2023 3M Open picks.

2023 3M Open Preview

TV: Golf Channel, CBS and ESPN+

TPC Twin Cities opened in 2000 and has played host to the 3M Open since the tournament debuted on the PGA TOUR in 2019. The longest hole on the golf course is the 18th at 596 yards (par 5).

The four previous 3M Open winners are Matthew Wolff in 2019 (-21), Michael Thompson in 2020 (-19), Cameron Champ in 2021 (-15) and Tony Finau in 2022 (-17). Finau cashed in as the 3M Open favorite last year (+1400), but the three previous winners were longshots with odds of +12500 or better.

TPC Twin Cities Course Information

Par: 71 / Yards: 7,431

Greens: Bentgrass / Fairways: Bentgrass / Rough: Bentgrass/Fescue (4ā€)

Par 3s: 4 / Par 4s: 11 / Par 5s: 3

Blasting shots off the tee has led to success for Wolff, Champ and Finau at this golf course. However, itā€™s important to be accurate off the tee as well due to the numerous water hazards. Thereā€™s water hazards on 15 holes at TPC Twin Cities. Golfers also have to deal with playing at 900 feet in altitude.

The lowest winning score at the 3M Open is -15. The weather forecast is calling for lots of sun and thereā€™s less than a 50% chance of rain this week. I predict this weekā€™s winner will need to score better than -15 to win. We want to target long drivers that hit lots of GIR and can convert birdie attempts with the putter.

Expert 3M Open Picks for 2023

The four favorites to win the 2023 3M Open are Finau (+1600), Sungjae Im (+1600), Hideki Matsuyama (+1600) and Cameron Young (+1600). Theyā€™ll all be popular 2023 3M Open picks this week.

Out of the four favorites, Young interests me the most. Young has been in form in July, finishing T6 at the John Deere Classic and T8 at the Open. Young ranks 3rd in driving distance, 12th in SG: Off the Tee, 26th in GIR % and 4th in birdie average. Heā€™ll have a shot at winning his first PGA event this week.

Iā€™m fading Finau and Im this week. Finau won the 3M Open last year, which makes him enticing to add to your 3M Open picks for 2023, but he has struggled to find his form since winning the Mexico Open back in April. He has missed the cut in three of his last five events, with a best finish of T32 during that stretch.

Im also isnā€™t in great form, but he performed well enough for a T20 last week at the Open. He has missed the cut in four of his last eight golf tournaments and his last top 10 finish was at Wells Fargo in May.

Top Contenders to Win the 2023 3M Open

Only 11 of the top 50 golfers in the OWGR are in the 2023 3M Open field. Straka (+2200), Emiliano Grillo (+2500), Thomas (+2800) and Davis (+3000) are among the top contenders to win the 3M Open this year.

Straka won the John Deere Classic and finished T2 at the Open last week. Straka ranks 20th in driving accuracy, 22nd in GIR % and 14th in SG: Approach the Green. He didnā€™t play in last yearā€™s 3M Open, but his course form isnā€™t great, as he missed the cut in 2019 and 2021. He was T18 here in 2020.

Grillo has been tough to get a handle on. Grillo won the Charles Schwab Challenge in May, but he missed the cut in two of his last five events. After a MC at the John Deere Classic, he finished T6 at the Open.

Thomas and Davis are desperate for FedExCup Playoffs points, but both golfers are in poor form.

Longshots to Win the 2023 3M Open

Are you looking to add some longshot 3M Open picks to your card this week? Some longshots to target are Lucas Glover (+4500), J.T. Poston (+4500), Nicolai Hojgaard (+5500) and Vincent Norrman (+6000).

Glover struggled all season until a T20 at the RBC Canadian Open in June. Glover recently switched to a long putter and it has paid dividends, as he has finishes of T4, T6 and 5th in his last three tournaments. Glover ranks 10th in driving accuracy, 1st in proximity, 25th in GIR% and 25th in SG: Approach to Green.

Potson finished T41 at the Open last week. He finished T6 at the John Deere Classic and Scottish Open.  Hojgaard has finishes of T21, T6 and T23 in his last three golf tournaments.

Norrman has finished in the top 25 in his last three starts, including a win at the Barbasol Championship earlier this month. Norrman ranks 31st in SG: Off the Tee, 11th in driving distance, 14th in GIR % and 20th in birdie average. If he can stay on the fairways, heā€™ll be among the contenders this week.

2023 3M Open Picks – Outright Winner

I have three outright winner 3M Open picks for 2023. My first selection is Young. This is the first time he has competed in the 3M Open PGA tournament. His game suits this course very well and heā€™s in form.

Youā€™ll need to sign-up to Sports Hub (email verification only) to get the rest of my 3M Open picks. Iā€™m targeting two golfers outside of the favorites to pull out a win for a big payday.

2023 3M Open Picks – Top 5 Finish

Iā€™m betting on two longshots to finish in the top 5 this week at TPC Twin Cities. Weā€™ve seen a few huge golf longshots win this tournament already and it wouldnā€™t surprise me if that happens again. The 3M Open will be a birdie-fest and will require the winner to make shots for all four rounds.

2023 3M Open Picks – To Make the Cut

Iā€™m betting on a 2023 3M Open parlay with Young and Norrman to make the cut at -107 odds. I expect both golfers to be near the top of the leaderboard this week in Minnesota.

Parlay Bet: Young and Norrman to Make the Cut (-107)

Iā€™ll also be targeting some H2H matchups this week to close out my 3M Open picks. One of my top H2H matchup bets this week is Hojgaard to defeat Sahith Theegala. Theegala was in better form earlier in the season, but his best finish in his last eight tournaments dating back to May is a T27 at the U.S. Open. Theegala missed the cut at the Scottish Open and Open Championship in his last two events.
