Who’s ready for some Next Gen ATP Finals predictions? The 2023 tennis season may be drawing to a close, but there are still plenty of exciting betting opportunities on offer.

The exhibition tournament is set to get underway in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, November 28. If you plan to wager on the event, be sure to stick around for my Next Gen ATP Finals predictions.

What Are the Next Gen ATP Finals?

The Next Gen ATP Finals bring together the best 21-and-under players of the season. Eligible candidates must be 21 or under at the end of the calendar year, with the eight highest-ranked singles players being awarded a spot.

Carlos Alcaraz (#2) and Holger Rune (#8) were eligible this year, but they competed in the ATP Finals thanks to their rankings. Ben Shelton (#17) and Lorenzo Musetti (#27) were also eligible before withdrawing from the event.

Consequently, Arthur Fils (#36) is the highest-ranked player in this year’s tournament. You can find the full 2023 ATP Next Gen Finals lineup below, along with each player’s world ranking.

2023 ATP NEXT GEN FINALS LINEUP

  1. Arthur Fils (#36)
  2. Luca Van Assche (#66)
  3. Dominic Stricker (#92)
  4. Alex Michelsen (#94)
  5. Flavio Cobolli (#100)
  6. Hamad Medjedovic (#111)
  7. Luca Nardi (#118)
  8. Abdullah Shelbayh (#187)

As you can see, five of the eight players find themselves inside the top 100 in the current ATP World Rankings. Hamad Medjedovic (#111) and Luca Nardi (#118) sit just outside the top 100, while Abdullah Shelbayh (#187) is this year’s wildcard.

2023 Next Gen ATP Finals Preview

  • When: November 28 – December 2, 2023
  • Where: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
  • Venue: King Abdullah Sports City
  • Surface: Hard
  • Prize Money: US$2,000,000
  • 2022 Champion: Brandon Nakashima

King Abdullah Sports City is the venue for the sixth edition of the Next Gen ATP Finals. The first five editions were held in Milan, Italy, but Saudi Arabia will host the tournament through 2027.

Brandon Nakashima won the event in 2022, although the American is ineligible to defend his crown due to his age. With a total of US$2,000,000 in prize money up for grabs, the tournament presents lucrative opportunities for young players.

Before I reveal my Next Gen ATP Finals predictions, let’s check out the latest odds.

2023 ATP NEXT GEN FINALS OUTRIGHT ODDS

  • Arthur Fils (+285)
  • Alex Michelsen (+500)
  • Dominic Stricker (+550)
  • Luca Van Assche (+550)
  • Hamad Medjedovic (+650)
  • Luca Nardi (+700)
  • Flavio Cobolli (+700)
  • Abdullah Shelbayh (+1000)

Arthur Fils is the bookies’ favorite to win the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals. The 19-year-old Frenchman has enjoyed a breakout year on the Tour, climbing to #36 in the ATP World Rankings.

The next six players are all priced between +500 and +700, highlighting the competitiveness of the tournament. Sitting at #187 in the rankings, Abdullah Shelbayh is the clear underdog, as the 20-year-old Jordanian is this year’s wildcard pick.

Not only can you bet on the outright winner, but you can also bet on the winner of each group. Here are the group odds.

GREEN GROUP OUTRIGHT WINNER ODDS

  • Arthur Fils (+138)
  • Dominic Stricker (+275)
  • Luca Nardi (+350)
  • Flavio Cobolli (+350)

RED GROUP OUTRIGHT WINNER ODDS

  • Alex Michelsen (+200)
  • Luca Van Assche (+200)
  • Hamad Medjedovic (+260)
  • Abdullah Shelbayh (+400)

Now that you’re up to speed on the odds, it’s time for me to share my 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals predictions.

Next Gen ATP Finals Predictions for 2023

The Next Gen ATP Finals follow a unique format. The eight players are separated into two groups of four, with the top two players in each group advancing to the semifinals. After that, the winning semifinalists go head-to-head in the final.

Fils, Stricker, Cobolli and Nardi have been drawn into the Green Group, while Van Assche, Michelsen, Medjedovic and Shelbayh have been placed in the Red Group.

With each contender playing three group games, there is no shortage of betting opportunities available. Since we are still waiting for the bookies to release their match odds, my Next Gen ATP Finals predictions concern the outright markets.

2023 Next Gen ATP Finals Predictions – Who Will Win the Groups?

The Green Group features three top-100 players, while the Red Group features two players from outside the top 100. As a result, the Green Group is trickier to predict, simply because the standard is higher on paper.

That said, I’m backing Fils to win the Green Group. The French teenager is the highest-ranked player by a considerable margin, making odds of +138 look very attractive.

As for the Red Group, I’m going with Van Assche at +200. Having won three Challenger events in the past 12 months, Van Assche looks set to enjoy plenty of success in Saudi Arabia in the coming days.

Green Group Winner Best Bet: Arthur Fils (+138)

Red Group Winner Best Bet: Luca Van Assche (+200)

2023 Next Gen ATP Finals Predictions – Who Will Lift the Trophy?

With Michelsen, Stricker, Van Assche, Medjedovic, Nardi and Cobolli all priced between +500 and +700 to triumph in Jeddah, you could land a tasty profit if you play your cards right. Still, it is difficult to look past Fils when it comes to making Next Gen ATP Finals predictions for the winner.

Earlier this year, Fils defeated Casper Ruud on his way to the semifinals of the Hamburg Open. Last month, the teenage prodigy dispatched Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the European Open final, only to suffer a narrow defeat to Alexander Bublik in the showpiece.

There are lots of exciting young players in this year’s event, but it feels like Fils is best equipped to secure the silverware at this stage. I recommend taking advantage of his +285 price before the bookies change their minds.

Outright Winner Best Bet: Arthur Fils (+285)

Prepare Your Next Gen ATP Finals Predictions

Of course, the Next Gen ATP Finals don’t generate as much attention as Grand Slam events, but they still present plenty of lucrative opportunities for tennis bettors.

In fact, smaller tournaments such as the Next Gen ATP Finals often serve up better value than major events like the US Open and Wimbledon, as the bookies don’t put as much time and effort into prices.

If you like the look of my Next Gen ATP Finals predictions, be sure to lock in your picks before the tournament begins. The matches start on Tuesday, November 28, and the favorites’ odds will likely shorten in the coming days.
