A Couple SEC Football Showdowns Today – September 30

SEC football has always been the king of the sport. There are currently seven SEC football teams ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll. That is typical for this time of year. Two-time defending national champion Georgia is No. 1 and is the favorite to capture a third straight College Football Playoff national title. The Bulldogs (4-0) will face rival Auburn (3-1) today in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. The rivalry started in 1892 and has been played every year since 1944.

Another huge game in SEC football today pits No. 13 LSU at No. 20 Ole Miss. Both teams are 3-1 and the winner will likely climb in the power rankings while the loser will drop. Ole Miss lost to Alabama last week while LSU escaped Arkansas with a 34-31 victory. Speaking of Alabama, the Crimson Tide play at Mississippi State. No. 22 Florida plays at 4-0 Kentucky, No. 23 Missouri is at Vanderbilt, and No. 21 Tennessee  hosts South Carolina, a team that beat the Vols last year. It’s an exciting day for SEC football!

SEC Football Isn’t the Only Game in Town

While SEC football rules, there are plenty of other big games today in the other Power 5 conference. SEC football gets all the hype because of the number of ranked teams it has plus all of the players it sends to the NFL every year. But, there are some other programs around the nation that are just as strong.

There Are a Couple SEC Battles Today

The Big 12 features a game with ranked opponents today. No. 24 Kansas travels to No. 3 Texas. Both teams are 4-0. Both teams have dynamic quarterbacks that lead high-powered offenses and both teams play solid run defense. The Jayhawks-Longhorns game isn’t the only matchup of unbeaten ranked opponents. Fresh off its close loss to Ohio State, No. 11 Notre Dame travels to No. 17 Duke. The Blue Devils are 4-0 and started the season with an impressive 28-7 win over Clemson. There are a handful of other games, but the best thing about college football here at Sports Hub are our handicappers and their CFB picks.

More Sports Hub Experts Atop Leaderboard

Investing in sports betting is an interesting thought and it’s exactly how the guys at Sports Investors approach their wagers. Whether it’s SEC football, the NFL, or another sport, these guys look beyond the basics of sports betting. Their approach has been working. Yesterday, they were at the top of my leaderboard and they’ve had a very strong week.

The same can be said for SWJ Sports, which has been in the top-5 the last three days in a row. Scott of SWJ Sports is a Sports Hub expert and regular contributor. He had another great day and you’d be wise to check out his picks today. He may have picks for an SEC football game, but you’ll have to check the members’ area to find out.

That said, let’s take a look at yesterday’s leaderboard.

Another Strong Day for Sports Hub Experts
  • Investing in sports: As mentioned, the Sports Investors topped yesterday’s leaderboard. They went 4-1, hitting on a CFB bet and three MLB bets for a total of $335. That gives the Sports Investors winnings of $837 over the last three days. Wonder if they have any SEC football picks today? You could find out by checking the members’ area. Not a member? • The Bookie Is Back: The Bookie is looking for a permanent reservation to my daily leaderboard. This is his second straight day in the top -5. He put up a second straight 3-0 day and cashed out another $300. That gives The Bookie three-day winnings of $700. If he has any SEC football picks, I’d want to know. He’s got one of the Notre Dame-Duke game in the system already.
  • SWJ Sports: I mentioned that Scott was back on the board again. He went 2-0 and added another $200 to his bankroll. Over the last three days, he has pocketed $890! Wait until UFC Fight Night is back. Then, he’ll deliver his specialty.
  • More Sports Hub experts: Ben Miller and Patrick Doyle each went 2-0 yesterday and won $200. These are names you should recognize. Patrick is now 6-1 over the last five days and Ben is one of our most consistent Sports Hub experts who just happens to be our No. 1-ranked MLB handicapper.

Trending for the Wrong Reasons

When you find yourself among the trending sports news but it’s because you missed the playoffs, you’re trending for the wrong reasons. That’s the San Diego Padres. We’ve got guys getting fired, teams getting swept, and, yes, there is some SEC football being played today.

Here’s what’s trending in sports.

  • Padres, out!: And just like that, the San Diego Padres spent a bajillion dollars all to go 80-80 and get eliminated from the MLB playoffs. The Padres actually beat the White Sox 3-2 last night – their third straight win – but were eliminated from postseason contention when the Miami Marlins beat the Pittsburgh Pirates. San Diego, the Mets, and the Yankees had the three highest payrolls in baseball this year. None of them made the playoffs.
  • Sweep: The top-seeded Las Vegas Aces survived a valiant effort from the Dallas Wings to take Game 3 of their WNBA semifinals series 64-61. That gave the Aces a sweep of the series and advanced the team back to the WNBA Finals.
  • Fired: San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler took the team to the playoffs in 2021, but that was the Giants only appearance in the postseason during his four-year reign. The Giants are currently 78-81 and out of playoff contention, so the team fired Kapler and will look for a new manager for the 2024 campaign.
  • CFP contenders on the road: It’s a big day for many of the top college football teams in the country. SEC football teams like No. 1 Georgia, No. 12 Alabama, and No. 13 LSU all play conference road games today. So do No. 2 Michigan and No. 8 Penn State in the Big Ten. No. 8 USC and No. 9 Oregon are also on the road in Pac-12 games today. It’s one of those days where top CFB teams need to be careful. Bettors be careful too. Check out Sports Hub’s Week 5 NCAA football picks page for assistance.
