No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev of Russia and No. 8 seed Jack Draper of Great Britain each prevailed in three-set semifinals on Friday to set up their final showdown in Doha. Rublev battled past Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5) over two hours and 46 minutes, shrugging off 21 aces and three saved match points by Auger-Aliassime. In the other semifinal, Draper used 14 aces and won 88.2 percent of his first-serve points in a 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3 comeback over the Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka.

Fifth-seeded Sebastian Baez of Argentina secured a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Taiwanese qualifier Chun-Hsin Tseng to advance to the semifinals in Rio de Janeiro. He will face fellow Argentine and lucky loser Camilo Ugo Carabelli, who outlasted Portugal’s Jaime Faria 7-6 (5), 6-4. Two more quarterfinals were scheduled for Friday evening: top seed Alexander Zverev of Germany against Argentina’s Francisco Comesana, and fourth-seeded Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina opposite France’s Alexandre Muller.
