ABN Amro Open: Alcaraz and de Minaur Set for Final Showdown

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and No. 3 seed Alex de Minaur of Australia will meet in the ABN Amro Open final on Sunday in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Alcaraz, ranked No. 3 in the world, fought through a three-set battle against No. 8 seed Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, winning 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 to reach his first career indoor final.

Meanwhile, de Minaur had a much smoother path, sweeping Italian qualifier Mattia Bellucci 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour.

Alcaraz overcame a difficult start against Hurkacz, saving triple break point early in the match before winning five consecutive games to take the first set. After dropping the second set in a tiebreak, Alcaraz regained control in the third, winning 12 of the first 13 points to establish a commanding lead.

The Spaniard tallied 39 winners against 32 unforced errors, while Hurkacz finished with 33 winners and 31 errors. Hurkacz also fired 10 aces to Alcaraz’s five, but the Polish player committed one double fault compared to four from Alcaraz.

In his semifinal match, de Minaur converted all four break points he faced, breaking Bellucci twice in each set. The Australian won 78 percent (14 of 18) of his first-serve points. Bellucci, playing in his first ATP semifinal, had previously upset No. 2 seed Daniil Medvedev and No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Dallas Open: Ruud and Shapovalov to Battle for Title

No. 2 seed Casper Ruud of Norway and unseeded Denis Shapovalov of Canada will compete for the title at the Dallas Open after winning their respective semifinal matches on Saturday.

Ruud, ranked No. 5 in the world, defeated Spain’s Jaume Munar 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (4) in a back-and-forth battle. Meanwhile, Shapovalov overcame No. 3 seed Tommy Paul of the U.S. in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.

Munar had an opportunity to close out Ruud in the 10th game of the final set, but Ruud broke back to level the set at 5-5 before taking control in the tiebreak. Ruud won four of the first six points in the breaker and closed out the match by breaking Munar once more.

Shapovalov had a crucial break to seal the first set at 7-5 and then maintained his momentum in the second. He struck six aces and saved all three break points he faced. At 4-3 in the second set, Shapovalov secured another break before serving out the match.

The championship matches in Rotterdam and Dallas will feature two contrasting styles—Alcaraz’s powerful baseline game against de Minaur’s speed and counterpunching ability, while Ruud’s consistent and structured approach will be tested by Shapovalov’s aggressive shot-making.
