Kokkinakis Triumphs in Epic Battle at Adelaide International

Hometown hero Thanasi Kokkinakis thrilled the Adelaide crowd with a marathon 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (4) victory over No. 8 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina in a 3-hour, 2-minute match. Kokkinakis fired 23 aces and saved five of six break points to secure his spot in the quarterfinals, where he will face No. 2 seed Sebastian Korda. Korda cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain.

Top-seeded Tommy Paul edged out French lucky loser Manuel Guinard 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, while No. 5 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada staged a comeback to defeat Arthur Cazaux 1-6, 6-4, 7-5. Australian Rinky Hijikata upset No. 7 seed Brandon Nakashima 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5). Marcos Giron, Benjamin Bonzi of France, and Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia also advanced to the quarterfinals.

Czech teenager Jakub Mensik continued his breakout run at the ASB Classic in Auckland with a stunning 7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-5 upset of top seed Ben Shelton.
