Jack Draper Wins Erste Bank Open for First ATP 500 Title

Jack Draper secured the biggest win of his career by defeating Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-5 in the final of the Erste Bank Open on Sunday in Vienna, Austria. The seventh-seeded Brit clinched his first ATP 500-level title and navigated a tense second set to take down Khachanov.

Draper initially appeared in control with a 4-0 lead in the second set, but Khachanov stormed back by winning five consecutive games. Draper, however, regained momentum, leveling the match at 5-5 before breaking Khachanov’s serve in the 11th game and overcoming a 15-40 deficit to close out the match.

Draper showcased his strengths with 30 winners to Khachanov’s 16 and dominated net play, winning 14 of 16 points. This title adds to Draper’s only other tour-level victory, which he earned in Stuttgart, Germany, earlier this year. Khachanov, who recently won in Almaty, Kazakhstan, was vying for his second title in October.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard Triumphs at Swiss Indoors Basel

In Switzerland, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard emerged as the lowest-ranked player to capture the Swiss Indoors Basel title since it became a tour-level event, defeating sixth-seeded Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-6 (4).

The 21-year-old Frenchman, who began the week ranked No. 50, did not face a break in the second set until the ninth point of the tiebreaker, where he took the decisive lead. He showcased his powerful serve, notching 22 aces to Shelton’s 10 and winning 84.6 percent of his first-serve points.

Mpetshi Perricard’s victory in Basel follows his breakthrough ATP title earlier this year at the Lyon Open in France, marking a significant milestone in his young career.
