Opelka Upsets Djokovic to Reach Brisbane Semifinals
Reilly Opelka stunned top-seeded Novak Djokovic 7-6 (6), 6-3 on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Brisbane International in Australia. Opelka, ranked No. 293 in the world after returning from hip surgery, fired 16 aces and won 80 percent of his service points against the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
Opelka will face France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the semifinals. Perricard secured his spot with a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory over Czech Jakub Mensik.
The other semifinal will feature Czech Jiri Lehecka against Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov. Lehecka defeated Chile’s Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 6-4, while Dimitrov advanced after Jordan Thompson retired with Dimitrov leading 6-1, 2-1.

Czechs Dominate to Reach United Cup Semifinals
Tomas Machac and Karolina Muchova led the Czech Republic to the semifinals of the United Cup in Australia with dominant victories over Italy. Machac cruised past Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 6-2 in just 54 minutes, while Muchova defeated Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-2.
The eighth-seeded Czech team will now face top-seeded Americans Taylor Fritz and Coco Gauff in Saturday’s semifinal.
In the other semifinal, second-seeded Poland, led by Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz, will take on ninth-seeded Kazakhstan.
Munar and Muller Advance to Hong Kong Semifinals
Jaume Munar of Spain and Alexandre Muller of France both pulled off upsets to set up a semifinal showdown at the Hong Kong Open.
Munar overcame second-seeded Lorenzo Musetti 2-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5, while Muller defeated fourth-seeded countryman Arthur Fils 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
The other semifinal will feature Japan’s Kei Nishikori against China’s Juncheng Shang. Nishikori defeated Cameron Norrie of Great Britain 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, while Shang rallied to beat Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
