It’s that time of the week to start getting our CFL Week 9 picks finalized. The action kicks off tonight with a match-up between the Lions vs. Blue Bombers. The winless Elks (0-8) have a bye week.
The Stampeders host the Argonauts on Friday, Hamilton host Montreal on Saturday and the Roughriders host the Redblacks on Sunday. I have released CFL Week 9 picks for all four games on the schedule.

Lions vs. Blue Bombers Prediction for Week 9
- When: Thursday, August 3rd 2023 at 8:30 PM ET
- Where: IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba
- Opening Spread: Blue Bombers -4 / Current Spread: Blue Bombers -5.5
- Opening Total: 44.5 Points / Current Total: 44.5 Points
The BC Lions (6-1 / 5-1-1 ATS) will be without QB Vernon Adams Jr. again. They also have a short week to prepare for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-2 / 4-3 ATS), while Winnipeg are coming off a bye week.
BC are scoring 26.0 PPG (3rd) and allowing 13.4 PPG (1st). The defense allows 214.1 PYPG (1st) and 67.3 RYPG (3rd). Both teams are tied for first in sacks made (25) this season. The Bombers are scoring 27.1 PPG (2nd) and allowing 21.0 PPG (3rd). QB Zach Collaros leads the league in passing TDs (13).
The Lions defeated Winnipeg in Week 3 (30-6), but teams coming off a bye week are 8-1 (7-2 ATS) this season. The last three head-to-head (H2H) games have gone under the game total. With the Lions still banged up and the Bombers rested up, I’m backing Winnipeg to get the job done tonight.
Best Bet: Blue Bombers -5.5 (-110)
Argonauts vs. Stampeders Prediction for Week 9
- When: Friday, August 4th 2023 at 9:00 PM ET
- Where: McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta
- Opening Spread: Argonauts -7 / Current Spread: Argonauts -8.5

The Toronto Argonauts (6-0 / 6-0 ATS) are 6-0 for the first time since 1935. The Argos haven’t played a game at BMO Field since Week 4. The Calgary Stampeders (2-5 / 2-5 ATS) are 0-3 (0-3 ATS) at home.
Toronto lead the CFL in scoring (36.2 PPG) despite the passing attack struggling. Toronto are averaging 123.0 RYPG (2nd) and lead the league in rushing TDs (12). Toronto have a +16 turnover margin (1st), while the Stamps have a -3 TO margin (6th). Toronto are only allowing 20.7 PPG (2nd).
Calgary are scoring 24.3 PPG (4th) and allowing 27.4 PPG (8th). Jake Maier leads the league in passing yards (1,928), but he also leads the CFL in interceptions (11). These two teams played twice last season and the Stamps won both games. The under was also 2-0 in the H2H games last season.

- Where: Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario
- Opening Spread: Tiger-Cats -3 / Current Spread: Alouettes -2.5
- Opening Total: 48 Points / Current Total: 45.5 Points
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-4 / 3-4 ATS) host the Montreal Alouettes (3-3 / 3-3 ATS). Bo Levi Mitchell is back on the injured list, which means Taylor Powell will get the start at QB for Hamilton.
Hamilton are scoring 20.9 PPG (7th) and allowing 28.1 PPG (9th). They have the worst rushing attack in the league (73.7 RYPG) and a -7 TO margin (8th). The Alouettes are scoring 21.8 PPG (5th) and allowing 21.5 PPG (4th). Montreal limit turnovers and have a +4 TO margin (2nd) this season.
Dating back to last season, the Als are 4-1 (4-1 ATS) against the Ti-Cats, including a 38-12 Week 3 win at Tim Hortons Field. Both teams struggle through the air, as the Ti-Cats have six passing TDs (7th) and the Als have five passing TDs (8th). This game will come down to the wire.

Redblacks vs. Roughriders Prediction for Week 9
- When: Sunday, August 6th 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
- Where: Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan
- Opening Spread: Redblacks PK / Current Spread: Redblacks -1
- Opening Total: 46 Points / Current Total: 44.5 Points
The Ottawa Redblacks (3-4 / 3-4 ATS) failed to score a touchdown last week. Dustin Crum went 13/22 for 158 yards and 1 INT, but he also gained 82 rushing yards on 13 carries. The Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-4 / 3-3-1 ATS) had 402 passing yards against the Argos, but only scored 13 points due to turnovers.
Mason Fine is winless in two starts, but this is a great spot to pick up a win at home. Ottawa score 21.7 PPG (6th) and allow 22.6 PPG (5th), while the Riders score 19.7 PPG (8th) and allow 25.4 PPG (6th).
Saskatchewan will look to air it out, as they average 297.4 PYPG (2nd) and the Redblacks are allowing 317.3 PYPG (8th). The Redblacks lead the CFL in rushing yards (131.1 RYPG), but the Riders are only allowing 89.9 RYPG (4th). The Roughriders are 3-0 (3-0 ATS) in the last three H2H games.

CFL Week 9 Picks – Touchdown Scorers
I missed on my touchdown scorer pick last week, as Austin Mack failed to find the endzone. This week, I’ll be targeting another WR, as I’m backing Tevin Jones to score an anytime touchdown at +150 odds.
Jones has two receiving TDs in six games. He’s averaging 6.2 receptions per game on 8.8 targets per game. Ottawa have allowed ten passing TDs (8th) on the season and the Riders are desperate to win.
Best Bet: Tevin Jones to Score a Touchdown (+150)
CFL Week 9 Picks – Player Props
I hit on Fine over 245.5 passing yards last week against the Argos. I’m going to target the Argos passing defense again. Toronto rank last in the CFL in passing yards allowed (321.7 PYPG).
I’m betting on Reggie Begelton to go over 63.5 receiving yards. Begelton has 507 receiving yards (3rd) on 36 receptions (T5). He’s tied for first in 30+ yard receptions (5) and 3rd in yards after catch (212). He has had 64+ receiving yards in four of six games, including the last three weeks.
Best Bet: Reggie Begelton Over 63.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
