Braves Continue to Trend, Bama Makes Poll
When you’re the best team in MLB, you find that you’re trending a lot. That’s the Atlanta Braves, who find themselves among the trending sports news once again today. It’s Thursday, so we know that TNF is trending everywhere as everyone gets ready for tonight’s game. Make sure you check out all Sports Hub has to offer before placing your bets tonight.
There is plenty more trending in the sports world today, including Alabama making a very interesting poll. Read on to learn more.
Here’s today’s trending sports news.
- Braves: It seems like everyday something about the Braves is trending. Recently, it’s been Matt Olson’s onslaught of the franchise home run record. Yesterday, the Braves clinched the NL East Division with a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia. It is Atlanta’s sixth consecutive division title.
- TNF: I mean…it’s Thursday! Thursday night football is always trending on a Thursday. We’ll see if Minnesota can rebound from its upset loss last week against the defending NFC champions.
- WNBA routs: Two playoff games on Wednesday night. Two huge blowouts. Top-seeded Las Vegas won its opening game against Chicago by 28. No. 3 Connecticut beat Minnesota by 30. Those two series might be over quickly.

- Injuries: Yesterday, it was MLB pitchers. Today, it’s a handful of Eagles who will miss TNF. RB Kenneth Gainwell, CB James Bradberry, and S Reed Blankenship are all listed as out for tonight’s game. That will have an effect on how you bet this game. Check the Sports Hub members’ area for help with TNF betting.
- Bottom 10: If you’ve never enjoyed the weekly Bottom 10, you’re missing out. It’s a weekly column on ESPN that introduces readers to the worst teams in the nation…at least according to the writer. This week, Alabama (1-1) made the list along with those other college football powers like Arkansas State, Nevada, Buffalo, and Kent State.
TNF Tops the Thursday Sports Schedule
It’s Thursday and you know what that means. It’s time for TNF, Thursday Night Football! There is one NFL game tonight, but we also get two college games. While football is the highlight of today’s sports schedule, MLB is still in action and the last month of the season continues to clear up the playoff picture. The WNBA is off tonight, but the playoffs resume tomorrow. There are a handful of other sports on the docket too.
Let’s see what today has to offer.
- Prime time: Yes sir, it’s TNF once again and we are treated to a Thursday feast between the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Vikings lost to Tampa Bay 20-17 last week and the Eagles underperformed in a 25-20 win over New England. The Eagles will be down a couple of starters tonight too. Check out all the TNF picks in the system in the SportsHub members’ area.
- The U: There is college football tonight too and No. 22 Miami takes center stage. The Hurricanes will host FCS Bethune-Cookman. Navy plays at Memphis in an early season American Athletic Conference clash.

- Thursday baseball: Thursdays are one of the days on the MLB schedule where some teams get a day off. That’s the case today as 20 of MLB’s 30 teams will play today while the other 10 get a much-needed day off. A pair of AL East showdowns highlight the schedule. One of MLB’s oldest rivalries takes place in Boston where the Red Sox host the New York Yankees. Tampa Bay travels to Baltimore. The Rays are two games behind the first-place Orioles. Both teams have won 7 of their last 10 games.
- Soccer: There isn’t a ton of soccer on the schedule, but there’s enough to keep bettors happy. NCAA women’s soccer leads the way with a smattering of games in several international leagues around the world.
- Tennis: The US Open finished last week, but there are actually five women’s tennis tournaments going on right now. The Kinoshita Group Japan Open, the Cymbiotika San Diego Open, the Tiriac Foundation Trophy, and the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana will all end with finals this weekend. The Guadalajara Open Akron begins today.
- Golf: The PGA Tour continues with the Fortinet Championship, which begins today at Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, California. Max Homa, who has won the event in each of the last two years, is the favorite once again at +650 odds.
There’s your Thursday sports schedule. After a lull in the schedule the last two days, it’s a nice pick-me-up as we get ready for another weekend of football. Don’t forget to visit the Week 3 NCAA football picks page to prepare you for this week’s college football action. Enjoy TNF and come back tomorrow to see how all of our handicappers did with all of this Thursday sports action!
