Finally It’s College Football Kickoff – Daily Report – August 26

College football kickoff is the day we’ve been waiting for all summer long. Even though it’s just Week 0, it’s still a college football kickoff for fans and bettors everywhere. There are seven games on the schedule. It all starts with Notre Dame and Navy, who begin the 2023 season with their game in Dublin, Ireland. The Irish are one of two ranked teams to play today. No. 6 USC hosts San Jose State.

The college football that we’ve all waited for isn’t the only thing on today’s schedule. There are plenty of other sports on tap today, but the college football kickoff is what interests us the most. We’ve been patiently waiting for months. Now, it’s finally here! That means tons of games and an almost endless supply of betting opportunities. Sports Hub will be here for you through the whole season.

Sports Hub Leaderboard Review

What another great day on the Sports Hub leaderboard. A number of our very own experts were among the leaders. With the baseball season coming down the stretch, we have an interesting trend at the top of our MLB leaderboard. We’ll show you that in a minute.

Right now, let’s dive into yesterday’s leaderboard.

Finally It’s College Football Kickoff
Pro Picks – Andrew Goes 3-0
  • He’s a pro: Pro Picks – Andrew topped the board by going 3-0 with his MLB picks. With a plus-money pick on the Tigers, Andrew walked away with $354 in winnings yesterday. Not too shabby.
  • Sports Hub expert: It always gets me excited when our Sports Hub guys show up here. Nick Sabatini, our No. 4-ranked soccer capper, hit both of his MLB picks and his NFL pick to go 3-0 and win $300. Keep an eye on Nick with the college football kickoff this weekend and through the NFL season. He’s got several preseason NFL picks for today’s games in the system.
  • Sports Central: The team at Sports Central put 8 picks in yesterday, a combination of MLB and NFL predictions, and went 6-2. SC won $280 for the day.
  • Jonesin’ for baseball: If you didn’t know, I have several different leaderboards here at Sports Hub. We have the daily leaderboard, 7-day, 14-day, and 30-day leaderboards. We also have leaderboards for each sport. On the baseball 7-day leaderboard, our top-3 is held by handicappers all named Jones. Robert Jones ($401) leads the pack. Jack Jones ($397) is second and Dan Jones ($367) is third.

Football Is Back and Other Trends

Today’s college football kickoff is among the biggest trending sports news. It’s a light schedule in Week 0, but it’s significant. With the NFL’s preseason in its final week and Labor Day coming in the US, we know that it is finally time for some football!

Football is just one of the many trending topics in sports. Stay on top of the trending sports news every day by coming back to Sports Hub to read my daily report. I’ll keep you in the loop on the latest from the world of sports.

Here’s what’s trending today.

  • Finally, it’s here: Yes, the college football kickoff is here. With it comes a glorious four-month or so trek through hundreds of games all culminating with a national championship. It’s a great time of year!
  • Messi debut: Lionel Messi will make his MLS debut with Inter Miami CF. Messi’s club will play in New Jersey today and take on the New York Red Bulls.
  • CFB injury reports: I almost forgot. While the college football kickoff happens today, the Big Ten announced that it will offer game-day availability reports. Sounds like college football injury reports similar to the NFL are coming soon.
  • No no-no: Framber Valdez worked a no-hitter against Detroit last night through seven innings. Houston’s bullpen then lost the no-no in the eighth and lost the game in the ninth.
  • Bronny: LeBron James son Bronny has a congenital heart defect. That is what caused his cardiac arrest. He will be able to return and play at USC this season.
  • Sprint double: Noah Lyles, who had already won the 100 meters at the World Championships, pulled off the 100-200 double with a blazing 19.51 in the 200 meters.

College Football Kickoff Tops Today’s Schedule

It is a huge day in sports. Today marks the start of the 2023 college football kickoff. We get a little Week 0 teaser before the whole thing explodes with a full slate of games next weekend. It’s a summer Saturday, so there is a lot on the schedule.

Let’s check it out.

  1. College football kickoff: It’s the highlight of the weekend. College football is finally here, even if it is only seven games in Week 0. We’ll take it. We’ve been waiting seven months.
  2. More NFL: Teams are nearing the end of the preseason. While we may be preoccupied with the college football kickoff today, the NFL will play 10 preseason games. That means plenty of betting opportunities and a chance to get warmed for the real season that is coming soon.
  3. Race for postseason heating up: The weekend series continue in MLB with all 30 teams going at it today. As mentioned, the Mariners are on absolute fire. They have tied the Rangers for the AL West lead and the Astros are just a game behind both teams. In the NL, the Phillies, Cubs, Reds, Giants, and Diamondbacks are all gunning for three wild card spots.
  4. Finals in LLWS: The US and International finals of the Little League World Series are on today. The winners will advance to face each other for the LLWS championship tomorrow.
  5. More up north football: After Toronto beat Calgary last night 39-31 in CFL action, fans are treated to another Week 12 games tonight. While you enjoy the college football kickoff today, you can also enjoy Hamilton (3-6) at 7-3 BC.
  6. Huge soccer card: We’ve got the Premier League, German Bundesliga, Spain’s La Liga, and as mentioned above, the debut of Lionel Messi in an MLS match. There are 13 MLS matches today and there are a ton of soccer picks in the SportsHub system already.
  7. TOUR Championship: Collin Morikawa continues to lead the TOUR Championship with a 61 in Round 1 and a 64 in yesterday’s Round 2. Round 3 is today.
  8. WNBA: There are two games on tap today in the WNBA. The top two teams – Las Vegas and New York – are both in action and both teams are on the road. The Aces are at Washington. The Liberty play at Minnesota.
  9. But wait, there’s more: Yes, there is some men’s basketball too. The FIBA World Cup is taking place. Team USA will face New Zealand today. It’s one of the eight games on today’s schedule.
  10. Boxing: Oleksandr Usyk takes on Daniel Dubois to defend his WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles.
  11. UFC Fight Night: What would a weekend be without some MMA? The main event tonight features Max Holloway taking on the Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung, in the featherweight division.
  12. PLL: It’s not a true summer weekend with the Professional Lacrosse League. The Cannons (6-3) take on the Whipsnakes (4-5) in the first game today. The 4-5 Chaos will face the 1-8 Chrome in the other.

I’m almost out of breath after announcing today’s sports schedule. The highlight, of course, is the college football kickoff that gives us just seven games, but marks the turning of the tide in the sports season. Football is back! Enjoy today’s games and check back tomorrow for a recap of all the action from our handicappers and the sports world.
