Make Bank, Bet MLB Pitcher Props in 2024

Betting on baseball offers bettors something that other sports do not. There are 2,430 MLB games each season, which is far more than any other sport. When you add in all of the betting markets like pitcher props, hitter props, and more, the number of bets on the board on any given day during the season is astronomical.

Smart bettors will pick and choose from the best value bets on MLB board each day. Oftentimes, the most valuable of these bets are among the pitcher props. What pitcher props are available? How can bettors take advantage of some of these pitcher props?

There are multiple pitcher props available every day on the MLB schedule.

These are great questions. We asked some of our top MLB handicappers here at Sports Hub to help us with some answers.

MLB Pitcher Props Markets

The most popular and most-bet of all the pitcher props is the number of strikeouts. Sportsbooks set a total for the number of strikeouts for a starting pitcher each game. For example, on Monday Seattle P Luis Castillo’s strikeouts prop was set at 6.5.

Castillo has averaged 7 strikeouts per game in his eight starts this season. He recorded 7 Ks on Monday in a game against Minnesota. Bettors that took the Over were winners. In looking at pitcher props prior to the game, bettors would have noted that Castillo had five starts with at least 7 strikeouts.

Carlos Rodon pitches for the Yankees tonight.

Tonight, Carlos Rodon will pitch for the Yankees against the Astros. In looking at pitcher props, we see that Rodon’s K total is 4.5. The odds are -145, which indicates that Rodon is favored to record at least 5 Ks. Rodon has thrown at least 5 strikeouts in 4 of his last 5 starts.

There are other pitcher props markets. Bettors can wager on the Over/Under on the number of earned runs a pitcher will surrender. Another favorite is the Total Outs category. Tonight, Rodon’s total outs prop is 17.5. That means Rodon would have to pitch a full six innings and record 18 outs to go Over. Rodon has only pitched 6 or more innings in 3 of his 8 starts and he’s averaging 15.7 outs per game.

Pitcher Props Strategies

Betting pitcher props really comes down to matchups. Last night, Dodgers P Yoshinobu Yamamoto went up against Miami. The Marlins offense is horrible. They average less than four runs per game and they rank in the bottom-10 in most offensive statistical categories.

This is a clear pitching advantage for Yamamoto. Bettors would look at his earned run prop as well as the total outs recorded number. Yamamoto ended up giving up just 2 ER and pitched through 8 innings.

Yamamoto went Under his strikeouts prop last night.

One key matchup in that game would have been in relation to Yamamoto’s strikeouts prop. The number was set at 6.5. This is where some research pays off when betting pitcher props. Prior to last night, Yamamoto had only gone Over 6.5 Ks three times in seven starts. Miami isn’t very good at much, but they rank fourth in fewest strikeouts per game.

In the end, Yamamoto went Under on the earned runs prop, Over on the total outs prop, and Under on the strikeouts prop.

Top Handicappers Still Crushing It

I have gone on and on about Sas Insider. The Insider’s performance on a daily basis in 2024 has been nothing short of jaw-dropping. Yesterday was just another notch in the giant belt that has produced thousands and thousands of dollars in winnings for Sas Insider.

The Insider was our top capper once again yesterday. SWJ Sports is extending that reservation in the Top-5. Scott at SWJ turned in another great day and the rest of the Top 5 was all Sports Hub expert handicappers. As dominant as our guys are, this never gets old.

Here’s what happened yesterday at the top of the leaderboard.

  • Livin’ the dream: With all of its winnings, Sas Insider will soon be able to buy an island. Okay, maybe not that, but the Insider went 10-3 on 13 picks yesterday and profited $670. That puts Sas Insider at or near the top of just about every one of our leaderboards. The Insider is our No. 1 MLB capper and continues to sit atop the 30-day leaderboard with profits of $4513.

  • Back for more: It’s becoming a home for SWJ Sports here in the Top 5. There’s nothing wrong with that! Yesterday, SWJ Sports went 5-1 and earned $475. That gives Scott at SWJ the top spot over the last seven days with $2045 in profits. SWJ is also our No. 2 baseball capper behind Sas Insider.
  • Big Ben: It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Ben Miller in the Top 5. Don’t worry. He’s still an elite Sports Hub handicapper. Yesterday, he hit all four of his picks for $400. That gives Ben $886 in winnings over the last three days.
  • Where on the leaderboard is Diego?: In the fourth spot, that’s where. Diego went 3-0 yesterday and added $300 to his bankroll.
  • Do I make you Randy? Well, Randall Dickelman could make you some money with days like yesterday. He went 6-3 and took home $237. Randall is our No. 2 hockey capper over the last seven days ($545) and our No. 1 NBA capper for the week with basketball profits of $731.

Did Luka Disappear?

What happened to Luka Doncic last night? Oklahoma City was able to dismantle the Dallas Mavericks last night in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series. It was a similar deal in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Dallas Stars welcomed the Colorado Avalanche to town. The Avs were a road favorite in Game 1 of their new series and Dallas ultimately let one get away.

Let’s recap yesterday and see what is trending in sports.

  • Stars blow lead: Playing at home as an underdog, the Dallas Stars jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead in Game 1 of their conference semifinal series with Colorado. The Stars wouldn’t score again. The Avs tied it in regulation and Miles Wood hit the game-winner roughly nine minutes into the overtime period to give Colorado a 1-0 series lead.
  • OKC blows out Dallas: The Thunder held Doncic to just 19 points (he hit just 1-of-8 from three) and beat the Mavericks easily 117-95. Dallas as a team shot just 39.3 percent. OKC takes a 1-0 lead with Game 2 set for Thursday night in Oklahoma City.
  • Sharks win lottery: The San Jose Sharks didn’t win much during the 2023-24 NHL season. The Sharks won an NHL-worst 19 games this season, but they did win the NHL draft lottery last night. They will have the first pick in the 2024 NHL draft.
  • Gobert wins DPOY: Minnesota C Rudy Gobert picked up his fourth NBA Defensive Player of the Year award yesterday. He joins Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace as the only four-time winners of the award. That’s pretty good company. Both Mutombo and Wallace are in the Hall of Fame.
