Michael Busch hit the first MLB home run in Sutter Health Park history, Carson Kelly hit for the cycle, and the Cubs hit five total homers in the blowout. Kelly drove in five runs and became the first catcher since J.T. Realmuto in 2023 to complete the cycle. Ben Brown allowed three runs over five innings to earn the win.

Elly De La Cruz exploded for two monster home runs and a career-high seven RBIs as the Reds pummeled the Rangers. Cincinnati scored six runs in the first two innings and never looked back. Brady Singer dominated in his Reds debut with seven shutout innings of one-hit ball.

Gavin Sheets drove in four runs and Kyle Hart earned his first MLB win in five years as the Padres improved to a franchise-best 5-0 start. Sheets hit two two-run doubles off Cleveland starter Luis Ortiz, who gave up seven runs in under five innings.

Teoscar Hernandez homered and scored three runs, Tyler Glasnow pitched five shutout innings, and the Dodgers remained unbeaten. Freddie Freeman sat out after tweaking his ankle, while Michael Harris II broke Atlanta’s 29-inning scoreless streak with a solo homer in the eighth.

Kris Bubic threw six scoreless innings in his first start since 2022 as Kansas City throttled Milwaukee. Jonathan India had three hits and Salvador Perez homered. Elvin Rodriguez allowed four runs in a spot start for the winless Brewers.

Cedric Mullins drove in four runs, including a two-run double in the first, and Tyler O’Neill collected four hits as the Orioles won their home opener. Baltimore pounded out 15 hits. Sean Newcomb took the loss for Boston after giving up four runs in four innings.

Edmundo Sosa’s two-run double sparked a four-run seventh and Kyle Schwarber followed with a homer as the Phillies topped Colorado. Philadelphia added back-to-back homers in the eighth to seal the win. Hunter Goodman homered for the Rockies.

Jake Mangum had a breakout performance in his second MLB game, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two stolen bases as Tampa Bay beat Pittsburgh. Drew Rasmussen pitched five shutout innings. Pittsburgh managed just four hits.
Giants 7, Astros 2
Jordan Hicks blanked the Astros over six innings in his hometown return and Wilmer Flores’ three-run homer helped San Francisco win its series opener in Houston. The Giants built a 5-0 lead before Isaac Paredes drove in Houston’s only runs.
Angels 5, Cardinals 4 (10 innings)
Mike Trout hit two sac flies and the Angels rallied past the Cardinals in extra innings. Kyren Paris reached base three times and scored twice. The Angels’ bullpen pitched four shutout frames. Lars Nootbaar homered and scored twice for St. Louis.
