Cristopher Sanchez was nearly untouchable on the mound, pitching a two-hitter for his second career complete game to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday. The Phillies secured their fourth straight win with this strong showing.

Sanchez (9-8) was in control throughout, striking out four without issuing any walks. This victory extended Philadelphia’s dominance over Washington, having won eight of their nine matchups this season, including six consecutive wins.

Alec Bohm continued his impressive streak, reaching base in 34 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the majors.

For the Nationals, Alex Call’s solo home run was the lone bright spot as they suffered their fourth straight loss.

Campusano Powers Padres Past Rockies, 8-3

Luis Campusano led the charge for the San Diego Padres, homering and singling in an 8-3 win over the Colorado Rockies in Denver. The Padres have now won 20 of 25 games since the All-Star break.

Manny Machado’s four-hit performance and contributions from Xander Bogaerts, Ha-Seong Kim, and Bryce Johnson provided ample support for Dylan Cease. Cease (12-9) allowed three runs on three hits and five walks over 5 2/3 innings, striking out five.

Michael Toglia homered for the Rockies, who honored Hall of Famer Todd Helton before the game. Kyle Freeland (3-5) struggled on the mound, allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings.

Contreras’ Homer Lifts Brewers Over Guardians, 2-1

William Contreras’ go-ahead home run in the fourth inning was the difference as the Milwaukee Brewers edged out the Cleveland Guardians 2-1 in a tight contest between division leaders.

Freddy Peralta (8-7) bounced back from a tough outing, limiting the Guardians to one run on four hits over six innings. Devin Williams earned his fourth save, with the Brewers’ bullpen delivering three perfect innings of relief.

Tanner Bibee (10-5) took the loss for Cleveland despite a strong showing, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out seven. Josh Naylor’s solo home run accounted for Cleveland’s only run.

Cardinals Snap Skid, Beat Dodgers 5-2

Alec Burleson starred for the St. Louis Cardinals, going 3-for-4 with a two-run homer as they ended a five-game losing streak by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2.

Masyn Winn and Nolan Arenado also homered for the Cardinals. Andre Pallante (5-6) turned in a solid start, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings while striking out five. Ryan Helsley earned his 38th save.

Shohei Ohtani homered and stole two bases for the Dodgers, but Bobby Miller (1-3) struggled, surrendering four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Pirates Top Mariners 7-2 with Power Surge

The Pittsburgh Pirates hit three home runs en route to a 7-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Bailey Falter (6-7) matched a career high with eight strikeouts, allowing two runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.

The win was Pittsburgh’s second straight after a 10-game losing streak, while the Mariners have now lost five straight and eight of their last 12.

Tigers Blank Yankees 4-0 Behind Strong Pitching

The Detroit Tigers shut out the New York Yankees 4-0, with Andy Ibanez driving in two runs with a double. A trio of Tigers pitchers combined to hold the Yankees to just four hits.

Keider Montero (4-5) led the way, giving up only two hits and striking out five in five-plus innings. Tyler Holton and Jason Foley completed the shutout.

Carlos Rodon (13-8) struggled for the Yankees, allowing four runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. Oswaldo Cabrera had two of New York’s four hits.

Cubs Edge Blue Jays 3-2 with Busch’s Big Hit

Michael Busch’s two-run triple was the key moment in the Chicago Cubs’ 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Ian Happ set the tone with a leadoff homer, and Busch’s triple in the fifth gave the Cubs a lead they would not relinquish.

Addison Barger hit a solo home run for Toronto, while Daulton Varsho added an RBI single. Chris Bassitt (9-12) pitched five innings for the Blue Jays, allowing three runs on five hits.

Twins Win Third Straight, Defeat Rangers 5-2

Willi Castro’s two RBIs helped the Minnesota Twins rally past the Texas Rangers 5-2 in Arlington, extending their winning streak to three games.

David Festa (3-2) was solid on the mound for the Twins, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings. The Twins’ bullpen was excellent, throwing four scoreless innings.

Nathan Eovaldi (8-7) pitched seven-plus innings for Texas but was tagged with the loss. Carson Kelly drove in both Rangers runs.

Severino’s Shutout Propels Mets Over Marlins 4-0

Luis Severino was dominant, pitching a four-hit shutout to lead the New York Mets to a 4-0 victory over the Miami Marlins. Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso provided the offense with solo home runs.

Severino (8-6) struck out eight and walked just one in his second career shutout. The Mets have now outscored the Marlins 11-3 over their last two games.

The Marlins continued to struggle, losing eight of their last 11 games.

Rays Halt Diamondbacks’ Winning Streak with 6-1 Victory

Brandon Lowe’s two-run homer and Jeffrey Springs’ strong start helped the Tampa Bay Rays to a 6-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, ending Arizona’s streak of nine consecutive series wins.

Lowe finished 2-for-4 with a home run and a double, while Springs earned his first win since returning from Tommy John surgery.

The Diamondbacks managed just five singles, with Kevin Newman and Jose Herrera accounting for their lone run.

Blanco’s Career Night Leads Royals Past Reds 13-1

Dairon Blanco had a night to remember, hitting two home runs and driving in seven runs as the Kansas City Royals crushed the Cincinnati Reds 13-1. Every Royals starter contributed with at least one hit and one run.

Jeimer Candelario homered for the Reds, who have now lost two straight following a four-game winning streak.

Athletics Shut Out Giants 2-0 with Bido’s Gem

Osvaldo Bido flirted with a no-hitter, leading the Oakland Athletics to a 2-0 shutout of the San Francisco Giants. Seth Brown paced the A’s offense with three hits, while the bullpen combined for three scoreless innings.

The Giants were held to just four hits, with Grant McCray and Mark Canha providing all of the offense.

Astros Overpower White Sox 6-1 Behind Brown’s Strong Start

Hunter Brown delivered a dominant performance, leading the Houston Astros to a 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Brown (11-7) allowed just one run over seven innings, striking out six.

Chris Flexen (0-9) continued his struggles for the White Sox, giving up four runs on seven hits over four innings. The White Sox managed just four hits in the loss.

Duran, Devers Lead Red Sox Past Orioles 5-1

Jarren Duran’s clutch two-run single and Rafael Devers’ two-run homer powered the Boston Red Sox to a 5-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Brayan Bello (11-5) and the Red Sox bullpen combined to limit Baltimore to just five hits.

Gunnar Henderson provided the Orioles’ only offense with a solo home run, but Baltimore has now lost four of its last six games.

Ozuna’s Early Homer Sparks Braves to 11-3 Rout of Angels

Marcell Ozuna’s three-run homer in the first inning set the tone for the Atlanta Braves’ 11-3 blowout win over the Los Angeles Angels. The Braves racked up 12 hits, including homers from Ramon Laureano and Whit Merrifield.

Michael Harris II added three hits, while Kevin Pillar drove in two runs for the Angels, who have lost four of their last five games.
