Ohtani Walk-Off, Herrera’s Hat Trick Highlight MLB’s Midweek Mayhem

Wednesday across Major League Baseball brought fireworks, from Shohei Ohtani’s game-ending bomb to Ivan Herrera’s three-homer heroics and everything in between. Let’s recap the wild slate with clutch moments, breakout performances, and more.

Ohtani Delivers Hollywood Ending

Dodgers 6, Braves 5

Shohei Ohtani launched a walk-off homer on the first pitch of the ninth, capping a Dodgers comeback from a five-run hole to stay perfect at 8-0. It was Ohtani’s third homer of the year and came on his first bobblehead night of the season.

Max Muncy redeemed himself from two early errors with a game-tying double in the eighth, while Hugo Lloris made two saves to hold down Lionel Messi’s Braves—okay, not quite, but the Braves are reeling at 0-7.

Herrera Goes Deep Three Times

Cardinals 12, Angels 5

Ivan Herrera had the game of his life, crushing three homers to help the Cardinals avoid a sweep. He hit solo, two-run, and three-run shots—just the second three-HR game by a Cardinal since 2023.

Logan O’Hoppe briefly gave the Angels hope with a grand slam in the seventh, but the bullpen couldn’t hold a late tie.

Brewers Win on a Bunt in Extras

Brewers 3, Royals 2 (11 innings)

Brice Turang laid down a walk-off suicide squeeze bunt in the 11th to lift the Brewers over the Royals. It was a redemption moment for Turang, who struck out three times earlier.

Milwaukee got eight strong innings from Freddy Peralta, while Jackson Chourio stayed hot with three hits and a homer.
