Jose Ramirez slugged three home runs, including the game-winner in the ninth, and Brayan Rocchio drove in three runs as Cleveland edged Los Angeles in Anaheim. Ramirez hit a solo homer in the first and added a two-run shot in the fifth off Angels starter Jose Soriano, then capped his night with a solo blast in the ninth off Caden Dana. Rocchio snapped a 4-4 tie with a bases-loaded, two-out single in the sixth. Mike Trout and Logan O’Hoppe went deep for the Angels. Tim Herrin (1-0) earned the win in relief.

Braves 10, Marlins 0
Spencer Schwellenbach threw eight dominant innings of two-hit ball, striking out 10 with no walks, to lead Atlanta to its first win of the season. Marcell Ozuna homered, doubled, and drove in three runs, while Matt Olson added his first homer and a two-run single. The Braves broke it open with a five-run eighth.
Phillies 3, Dodgers 2
Jesus Luzardo blanked the previously undefeated Dodgers over seven innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. J.T. Realmuto threw out runners in both the eighth and ninth innings to preserve the win. Tommy Edman hit a two-run homer in the ninth to bring L.A. within a run, but the Dodgers’ rally fell short.
Mets 5, Blue Jays 0
Pete Alonso homered in his first home at-bat of the season, helping the Mets blank Toronto. Tylor Megill (2-0) allowed two hits in 5 1/3 innings, and three relievers finished the combined four-hitter. Kevin Gausman (1-1) gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings for the Blue Jays.
Yankees 9, Pirates 4
Oswaldo Cabrera drove in four runs and Aaron Judge hit his sixth homer of the year as New York spoiled Pittsburgh’s home opener. Judge’s blast marked his 321st career homer in his 1,000th game. Max Fried (1-0) allowed one earned run over 5 2/3 innings.
Red Sox 13, Cardinals 9
Trevor Story and Wilyer Abreu hit back-to-back homers in a five-run first inning as Boston erupted for 16 hits in their home-opening win. Story had three RBIs, and seven Red Sox had multi-hit games. Ivan Herrera homered again for St. Louis, which couldn’t complete a ninth-inning rally.
Giants 10, Mariners 9 (11 innings)
Willy Adames hit a walk-off two-run single in the 11th to lift San Francisco past Seattle. Jorge Polanco homered and drove in four for the Mariners. The Giants got three hits each from Adames, LaMonte Wade Jr., Heliot Ramos, and Patrick Bailey.
Diamondbacks 6, Nationals 4
Corbin Carroll hit two home runs and drove in three, while Randal Grichuk’s two-run double in the seventh put Arizona ahead for good. CJ Abrams, Luis Garcia Jr., and Nathaniel Lowe all homered for Washington, which dropped its fourth straight. Ketel Marte exited early with a hamstring injury.

Cubs 3, Padres 1
Shota Imanaga delivered 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball as Chicago handed San Diego its first loss. Imanaga (2-0) scattered four hits and struck out four. Justin Turner’s go-ahead RBI single led a three-run fifth for the Cubs.
Brewers 3, Reds 2
Brice Turang hit a two-run homer and Milwaukee held off Cincinnati for its fourth straight win. The Reds finally ended a 35-inning scoreless streak with two unearned runs in the eighth but couldn’t tie the game. Tyler Alexander and four relievers combined on a five-hitter.
Tigers 7, White Sox 4
Kerry Carpenter launched two solo home runs and Riley Greene added a homer among his three hits as Detroit won its home opener. Jack Flaherty (1-0) struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings. Brooks Baldwin drove in two runs for Chicago.
Athletics 6, Rockies 3 (11 innings)
Jacob Wilson broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run single in the 11th and also homered earlier as Oakland spoiled Colorado’s frigid home opener. Mason Miller earned his second save, striking out Ezequiel Tovar to end it.

Rangers 5, Rays 2
Texas erupted for four runs in the third inning and got five shutout innings from Tyler Mahle (1-0) to beat Tampa Bay. Josh Smith had two hits, including a solo homer in the seventh. The Rays’ only runs came on wild pitches.
Royals 8, Orioles 2
Maikel Garcia drove in three runs, Seth Lugo pitched six strong innings, and Vinnie Pasquantino delivered a three-run single to help Kansas City top Baltimore. Gunnar Henderson made his season debut for the Orioles but committed an error and went 1-for-4.
