Orioles Crush Six Homers in Record-Setting Rout of Blue Jays

Cedric Mullins and Adley Rutschman each went deep twice as the Baltimore Orioles launched six home runs — a franchise Opening Day record — to dismantle the Toronto Blue Jays 12-2. Mullins drove in five runs and went 3-for-5, while Tyler O’Neill added to his own record by homering on Opening Day for the sixth straight season.

Zach Eflin (1-0) allowed two hits and a two-run homer to Andres Gimenez over six strong innings. Toronto’s Jose Berrios (0-1) gave up six runs in five innings as the Blue Jays were outhit 14-4.

Framber Valdez tossed seven scoreless innings to lead the Houston Astros past the New York Mets 3-1. Houston capitalized on a third-inning rally sparked by Yainer Diaz’s RBI single. Juan Soto went 1-for-3 with two walks in his Mets debut.

Rookie Sean Burke pitched six shutout innings in his first Opening Day start to lead the Chicago White Sox to an 8-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Burke allowed just three hits and retired 14 straight at one point. Andrew Benintendi and Lenyn Sosa each hit two-run homers in a six-run eighth inning.

Logan O’Hoppe spoiled the shutout with a solo homer in the ninth.

Late Homers Push Giants Over Reds

Wilmer Flores crushed a go-ahead three-run homer in the ninth as the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-4. Patrick Bailey tied the game with an RBI single just before Flores’ blast.

Reds starter Hunter Greene fanned eight over five innings, while Jeimer Candelario drove in three.

Rodon, Yankees Start Fast vs. Brewers

Carlos Rodon allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings, and early homers from Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe helped the Yankees to a 4-2 Opening Day win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Aaron Judge added an RBI double, and Cody Bellinger picked up a sac fly in his debut.

Kyle Manzardo went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs to power the Guardians to a 7-4 win over the Royals in extra innings. Manzardo and Steven Kwan keyed a three-run 10th after Cleveland blew a ninth-inning lead.

Vinnie Pasquantino hit a three-run homer for Kansas City, while Emmanuel Clase earned the win despite a blown save.

Fortes, Stowers Spark Walk-Off for Marlins

Nick Fortes tripled to lead off the ninth, and Kyle Stowers followed with a walk-off single as the Miami Marlins edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4. It marked the first Opening Day walk-off win in Marlins history.

Paul Skenes struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings for Pittsburgh, and Nick Gonzales tied the game with a two-run homer in the sixth.

Shohei Ohtani homered in his Dodgers debut, joining Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman in a power-packed 5-4 win over the Tigers. Blake Snell (1-0) gave up two runs in five innings in his first start with Los Angeles.

Lars Nootbaar hit a go-ahead two-run homer as St. Louis beat the Minnesota Twins 5-3. Nolan Arenado also homered, and Sonny Gray (1-0) earned the win with five solid innings.
