Masataka Yoshida led the charge in Boston’s four-run fourth inning with a three-run homer, propelling the visiting Red Sox to a hard-fought 12-10 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.

Red Sox Bats Surge in Baltimore

Rafael Devers, Jarren Duran, and David Hamilton also went deep for Boston, breaking a two-game losing streak. Yoshida and Duran were unstoppable at the plate, each collecting three hits out of Boston’s 14 total. Yoshida notched four RBIs, while Duran crossed the plate three times. Despite Baltimore’s 17 hits, including a perfect 3-for-3 night from Ramon Urias—who drove in five runs with a two-run homer—the Orioles fell a game behind the AL East-leading Yankees. Jackson Holliday also shined for Baltimore with four hits.

Burnes Struggles as Boston Breaks Out

Orioles’ ace Corbin Burnes (12-5), the AL’s All-Star Game starter, had a rare off night, lasting just four innings. Burnes gave up career highs in runs (8) and hits (10) while walking three. Although he fanned seven batters, it wasn’t enough to keep the surging Red Sox at bay.

Cubs Edge Blue Jays in Extra-Inning Thriller

At Wrigley Field, Seiya Suzuki’s walk-off single in the 10th inning lifted the Chicago Cubs to a 6-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Chicago seemed to have the game in hand with a 5-2 lead entering the ninth, but the Blue Jays mounted a comeback. Hector Neris, facing a bases-loaded situation, balked to allow one run, and George Springer followed with a two-run triple to tie the game. However, Tyson Miller (4-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning to secure the win for the Cubs.

Yankees Silence Tigers Behind Cole’s Dominance

In Detroit, Aaron Judge’s 44th home run of the season and Gerrit Cole’s stellar six-inning performance powered the New York Yankees to a 3-0 shutout win over the Tigers. Judge, who had just hit his 300th career homer two days earlier, launched a solo shot 431 feet over the center field wall. Oswald Peraza added a home run in his season debut, while Cole (4-2) struck out eight and allowed just four hits. Clay Holmes closed it out for his 26th save.

Royals’ Witt Jr. Leads Charge in Cincinnati

Bobby Witt Jr. showcased his power and consistency as the Kansas City Royals downed the Cincinnati Reds 7-1. Witt smashed his 25th homer, added a double, and singled to raise his MLB-leading batting average to .352. Michael Lorenzen, returning to Cincinnati, allowed just one run over six innings, helping the Royals win back-to-back games for the first time since early August. Vinnie Pasquantino capped the victory with a three-run homer in the ninth. Tyler Stephenson celebrated his 28th birthday with two doubles and the Reds’ only RBI, but Cincinnati’s four-game winning streak came to an end.

Rays Walk Off Diamondbacks to Snap Skid

In dramatic fashion, the Tampa Bay Rays ended their three-game losing streak by walking off the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4. Jonny DeLuca scored from first base on a Brandon Lowe single that was misplayed by Arizona’s defense. The Diamondbacks had tied the game in the top of the ninth on Corbin Carroll’s two-run homer, his 12th of the season, but their six-game winning streak was halted by Tampa Bay’s resilience.

Phillies’ Turner Plays Hero in Walk-Off Win Over Nationals

Philadelphia’s Trea Turner capped a stellar four-hit night with a walk-off RBI single, lifting the Phillies to a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals. After the Nationals tied the game in the ninth, Turner delivered in the clutch, driving in Brandon Marsh to seal the win. Phillies starter Aaron Nola was solid, pitching 6 2/3 scoreless innings, but it was Carlos Estevez (2-4) who got the win despite allowing the tying runs in the ninth.

Pirates Snap Skid, Hold Off Mariners

Pittsburgh finally found a way to win, snapping a 10-game losing streak by beating the Seattle Mariners 5-3. Paul Skenes (7-2) led the way with six effective innings, allowing just two runs while striking out six. David Bednar secured the save despite giving up a ninth-inning home run to Jorge Polanco. The Mariners’ struggles continued, with their losing streak extending to four games.

White Sox End Astros’ Streak with Robert’s Big Night

Luis Robert Jr. was the star of the night, going 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs as the Chicago White Sox snapped the Houston Astros’ eight-game winning streak with a 5-4 victory. Robert’s homers in the third and fifth innings off rookie Spencer Arrighetti (5-11) provided the cushion Chicago needed. Garrett Crochet struck out nine in four innings, leading the majors with 12.71 strikeouts per nine innings.

Mets Top Marlins Behind Manaea’s Strong Outing

Sean Manaea pitched seven strong innings to lead the New York Mets to a 7-3 win over the Miami Marlins, opening their three-game series. Jeff McNeil and Brandon Nimmo homered, and the Mets held off a late rally by the Marlins. Manaea (9-5) allowed three runs on five hits, while Jake Burger’s homer was one of the few bright spots for Miami, which has now lost seven of its last ten games.

Brewers Outlast Guardians in Pitcher’s Duel

Aaron Civale threw six scoreless innings, and Willy Adames provided the big blow with a three-run homer as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-3. Civale (4-8) earned his second consecutive win, and Joel Payamps recorded his sixth save. Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez and David Fry hit solo homers, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Milwaukee’s strong pitching.

Twins Power Past Rangers Behind Santana, Jeffers

Carlos Santana and Ryan Jeffers each homered to propel the Minnesota Twins to a 4-3 victory over the Texas Rangers. Simeon Woods Richardson (4-3) earned the win with a solid five-inning performance, allowing just two runs. The loss continued Texas’ recent slide, with the Rangers now having dropped eight of their last ten games.

Dodgers Overcome Cardinals with Big Sixth Inning

Kevin Kiermaier’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run sixth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-6. Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts also homered for the Dodgers, who have now won six of their last eight games. Justin Wrobleski (1-1) earned his first MLB win despite allowing four runs in five innings. Paul Goldschmidt’s two-run homer wasn’t enough for the Cardinals, who have now lost five straight.

Rockies Cool Off Padres with Big Offensive Night

Charlie Blackmon’s homer led the way as the Colorado Rockies halted the San Diego Padres’ hot streak with a 7-3 victory in Denver. Brendan Rodgers also homered, and rookie Jordan Beck had three hits to support starter Cal Quantrill, ending Colorado’s three-game skid. The Padres, who have been on fire since the All-Star break, fell to 19-5 in the second half of the season.

Angels Outlast Braves in Tight Contest

The Los Angeles Angels edged the Atlanta Braves 3-2, with Ben Joyce earning his second save of the season by recording five crucial outs. Logan O’Hoppe snapped a slump with a game-tying two-run homer, and Mickey Moniak’s RBI double in the sixth inning proved to be the difference. The Braves, despite Sean Murphy and Jarred Kelenic driving in runs, couldn’t overcome the Angels’ bullpen in the late innings.
