D.C. United Transfers Matai Akinmboni to Bournemouth
D.C. United announced the transfer of homegrown defender Matai Akinmboni to AFC Bournemouth of the English Premier League on Friday. The 18-year-old Maryland native was sold for a reported $2.5 million fee, along with a future sell-on percentage.
Akinmboni made 13 MLS appearances (eight starts) over three seasons, registering one assist.
“Matai is an outstanding young talent, and we couldn’t be prouder of him taking the next step in his career to compete in the Premier League,” said D.C. United general manager Ally Mackay.
CF Montreal Signs Veteran Midfielder Fabian Herbers
CF Montreal bolstered their midfield by signing free agent Fabian Herbers to a deal through the 2026 season.
The 31-year-old German brings extensive MLS experience, with 19 goals and 24 assists across 205 matches (127 starts) with the Philadelphia Union and Chicago Fire.
“We are delighted to acquire Fabian, an experienced player who has played over 200 MLS games,” said Montreal president Gabriel Gervais. “He is a versatile player … and is known for his work ethic and team spirit.”
New England Revolution Add Rookie Goalkeeper Donovan Parisian
The New England Revolution secured the services of rookie goalkeeper Donovan Parisian, signing him to a two-year contract with club options for 2027 and 2028.
Selected 18th overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, Parisian excelled at the University of San Diego, recording 10 clean sheets in 20 matches over two seasons.
He earned West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors after posting a 13-3-0 record and a 0.69 goals-against average in 16 starts during his senior season.
