Darius Garland hit a crucial 3-pointer and then set up Jarrett Allen for a game-winning layup, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 116-114 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Garland finished with a game-high 39 points, helping Cleveland equal a franchise record with their eighth straight win to start the season, matching the 1976-77 team’s streak.

Evan Mobley contributed 17 points, and Allen had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Milwaukee, playing without Giannis Antetokounmpo (adductor), saw Damian Lillard score 36 points and AJ Green add 21 off the bench but couldn’t snap their six-game losing streak.

Kings 111, Heat 110

Domantas Sabonis scored on a put-back with 0.7 seconds left, giving the Sacramento Kings a thrilling 111-110 win over the Miami Heat. De’Aaron Fox led Sacramento with 28 points, and DeMar DeRozan added 26. Sabonis had a monster game with 16 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists.

Jayson Tatum scored 28 points and dished out nine assists as the Boston Celtics breezed past the Atlanta Hawks. Derrick White added 21 points, and Payton Pritchard contributed 18 off the bench.

Atlanta, already plagued by injuries, lost Trae Young to a rib injury after he managed just two points on 1-of-10 shooting. Jalen Johnson led the Hawks with 20 points and 11 rebounds.


Pistons 115, Lakers 103

Jaden Ivey poured in 26 points, and Cade Cunningham had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists as the Detroit Pistons upset the Los Angeles Lakers. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Tobias Harris added strong performances for Detroit.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 37 points and nine rebounds, while LeBron James nearly had a triple-double with 20 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists.

Naz Reid came off the bench to score 25 points, and Anthony Edwards added 21 as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Charlotte Hornets. Donte DiVincenzo added 14 points off the bench for the Timberwolves.

LaMelo Ball led the Hornets with 19 points, but Charlotte struggled offensively, with only three other players reaching double figures.


Jazz 135, Bulls 126

Keyonte George tied his career high with 33 points as the Utah Jazz earned their first win of the season, defeating the Chicago Bulls. John Collins added 28 points and 13 rebounds.

The Bulls were led by Coby White with 28 points and Ayo Dosunmu with 25. Nikola Vucevic had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Dorian Finney-Smith hit a clutch 3-pointer with just over a minute left, and the Brooklyn Nets held off the Memphis Grizzlies for a 106-104 win. Finney-Smith scored all 17 of his points in the second half, and Cameron Johnson and Dennis Schroder each had 20 points for Brooklyn.

Ja Morant and rookie Zach Edey scored 25 points apiece for Memphis, with Edey also grabbing 12 rebounds, but the Grizzlies’ comeback fell short.


Trail Blazers 118, Pelicans 100

Deandre Ayton had a double-double, and Dalano Banton scored all 20 of his points in the fourth quarter as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans. Anfernee Simons led Portland with 24 points.

Brandon Ingram scored 27 for New Orleans, which was missing several key players due to injuries.

Nuggets 121, Raptors 119

Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists, and the Denver Nuggets held off the Toronto Raptors. Russell Westbrook added 21 points for Denver, which overcame the early loss of Aaron Gordon to a calf injury.
