NBA roundup: Luka Doncic, Klay Thompson lead Mavs’ charge past Warriors

Luka Doncic recorded a triple-double with 45 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a high-scoring victory over the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco. Klay Thompson hit seven 3-pointers en route to 29 points, while Kyrie Irving added 21 points and eight assists for the Mavericks (16-6), who avenged an NBA Cup loss to Golden State last month.

The Warriors (11-15) got 29 points from Andrew Wiggins and 26 from Stephen Curry but dropped their ninth game in 14 outings since that Nov. 12 matchup.

Pacers 119, Pelicans 104

Pascal Siakam scored a game-high 22 points and Tyrese Haliburton notched a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists as the Indiana Pacers (12-10) defeated the slumping New Orleans Pelicans in Indianapolis.

New Orleans (7-16) suffered its fourth straight loss despite Brandon Boston Jr.’s team-high 20 points and 19 apiece from Herb Jones and Dejounte Murray. The Pelicans have lost 13 of their past 14 games.


Celtics 112, Wizards 98

Jayson Tatum had 28 points and 12 rebounds as the Boston Celtics (18-5) overcame an off-night for Jaylen Brown to beat the Washington Wizards on the road.

Payton Pritchard contributed 15 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists off the bench, while Kristaps Porzingis left the game with a foot injury after scoring 11 points.

Jordan Poole paced the Wizards (5-19) with 21 points. Justin Champagnie added 13 points and 14 rebounds.


Knicks 100, Magic 91

Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a dominant 22-point, 22-rebound performance, and Jalen Brunson scored 31 points as the New York Knicks (13-9) handed the Orlando Magic (15-5) their first home loss of the season.

Orlando’s Moritz Wagner tallied a career-high 32 points off the bench, but only one other Magic player, Tristan da Silva (20 points), scored in double figures.


Timberwolves 106, Spurs 92

Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves (15-7) with 26 points, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 17 off the bench in a win over the San Antonio Spurs in an NBA Cup-created matchup.

Victor Wembanyama had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs (6-18), who saw their two-game winning streak snapped. Jeremy Sochan contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds.


Lakers 116, Grizzlies 110

Anthony Davis matched season highs with 40 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Lakers (13-10) past the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. LeBron James, returning from a two-game absence, added 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 25 points for Memphis (8-15), but Ja Morant struggled, shooting 6-for-21 from the field and committing seven turnovers.

Suns 116, Trail Blazers 109

Devin Booker scored 28 points, and Kevin Durant added 20 despite shooting 1-for-9 from beyond the arc, as the Phoenix Suns (15-8) took down the Portland Trail Blazers.

Portland (4-20) dropped its sixth straight game, with Anfernee Simons (20 points) and Jerami Grant (17) leading the way.
