Tyrese Maxey scored a game-high 40 points and Paul George added 33 with six 3-pointers as the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers (17-6) defeated the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.

Despite missing Joel Embiid (sinus fracture) and rookie Jared McCain (knee injury), the 76ers excelled from beyond the arc, hitting 16-of-38 3-point attempts.

Charlotte (6-18) welcomed LaMelo Ball back from a calf injury. Ball contributed 15 points and 11 assists, while Miles Bridges led the Hornets with 24 points. However, Charlotte dropped its 10th game in the past 11 outings.

Bulls 122, Raptors 121

Nikola Vucevic posted 24 points as the visiting Chicago Bulls (9-14) survived a late Toronto rally to win a nail-biter.

Coby White added 19 points for Chicago, while Josh Giddey flirted with a triple-double (11 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists) before leaving with an ankle injury in the third quarter.

RJ Barrett scored 32 points and Gradey Dick chipped in 27 for the Raptors (6-17), who have lost five straight games. Jakob Poeltl exited in the fourth quarter with a groin injury.


Pistons 125, Heat 124 (OT)

Malik Beasley scored a season-high 28 points, and Cade Cunningham recorded a triple-double to help the Detroit Pistons (4-21) edge Miami in overtime.

Cunningham tallied 20 points, 18 assists, and 11 rebounds, while Ausar Thompson added 19 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. knocked down three consecutive 3-pointers in overtime, erasing an eight-point Heat lead.

Jimmy Butler led the Heat (14-11) with 35 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists in a Herculean effort. Tyler Herro scored 23 points for Miami, whose four-game winning streak came to an end.

Cavaliers 130, Nets 101

Evan Mobley scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half as the Cleveland Cavaliers (23-4) cruised to a dominant win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Caris LeVert scored all 19 of his points in the first half, while Cleveland capitalized on a season-worst 22 turnovers by Brooklyn, converting them into 34 points. The Cavaliers are now off to the best start in franchise history.

Cameron Johnson paced the Nets (9-18) with 22 points, and Day’Ron Sharpe added 15. Brooklyn has lost six of its last eight games.
