Devon Toews Leads Avalanche to OT Victory Over Sabres

Devon Toews scored 48 seconds into overtime, lifting the Colorado Avalanche to a thrilling 6-5 comeback win over the Buffalo Sabres in Denver. The victory extended Colorado’s winning streak to six games.

Jonathan Drouin forced overtime with a clutch goal in the final 7.7 seconds of regulation. Toews also added two assists, while Cale Makar scored twice and Mikko Rantanen contributed a goal and an assist.

Buffalo’s Jason Zucker recorded a hat trick, and Tage Thompson logged three assists, but the Sabres couldn’t hold onto a third-period lead. Colorado goaltender Scott Wedgewood left the game due to an injury, replaced by Mackenzie Blackwood.

Canucks Edge Kraken in Shootout

J.T. Miller scored the decisive goal in the shootout as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Seattle Kraken 4-3. Vancouver snapped a rough patch with just its second win in seven games.

Matty Beniers and Vince Dunn each tallied a goal and an assist for Seattle, but they couldn’t solve Canucks backup goaltender Kevin Lankinen, who stepped in after Thatcher Demko’s injury.

Troy Terry scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-3.

John Gibson made 27 saves and added an assist on the game-winning goal. Winnipeg’s Alex Iafallo and Mark Scheifele each tallied goals, but the Jets couldn’t stop Anaheim’s three-game win streak.


Maple Leafs Edge Islanders

Bobby McMann scored twice, including the game-winning power-play goal late in the third period, to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs past the New York Islanders 2-1.

Joseph Woll made 32 saves for Toronto, while Scott Mayfield scored the Islanders’ lone goal.


Berggren’s Late Goal Lifts Red Wings

Jonatan Berggren’s breakaway goal with 36 seconds left gave the Detroit Red Wings a 5-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Alex DeBrincat contributed a goal and two assists for Detroit, which improved to 3-1-0 under new head coach Todd McLellan. James van Riemsdyk scored twice for Columbus.


Stars Beat Senators for Third Straight Win

Roope Hintz scored twice as the Dallas Stars defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-2. Jamie Benn and Matt Duchene added goals for Dallas, which won its third consecutive game.

Brady Tkachuk scored and assisted on Ridly Greig’s goal for Ottawa, which struggled to generate offense against Dallas’ stingy defense.


Utah Tops Flames, Snaps Skid

Lawson Crouse’s two goals, including the game-winner, led the Utah Hockey Club to a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames. Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller also found the net for Utah.

Blake Coleman scored and added an assist for Calgary, which failed to capitalize on a penalty shot opportunity in the third period.

Golden Knights Rally Past Flyers

Pavel Dorofeyev’s goal highlighted a strong second period as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 in Las Vegas.
