Jonathan Drouin scored twice and added an assist, while Martin Necas netted his first goal with Colorado as the Avalanche routed the St. Louis Blues in Denver.

Mackenzie Blackwood recorded 19 saves for his first shutout with Colorado and second of the season. Cale Makar and Joel Kiviranta also found the back of the net, helping newcomers Necas and Jack Drury make a successful debut after being acquired from Carolina in a trade for Mikko Rantanen.

Joel Hofer stopped 31 shots for St. Louis, which has now lost four straight and five of its last six games.

Stars 5, Canucks 3

Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz each recorded two goals and an assist as Dallas extended its winning streak to four games with a victory over visiting Vancouver.

Oskar Back also scored for the Stars, while goaltender Jake Oettinger delivered a strong 26-save performance.

Conor Garland, Jake DeBrusk, and Carson Soucy responded for the Canucks, who had their three-game winning streak snapped just hours after trading impact forward J.T. Miller. Goaltender Thatcher Demko made 11 saves in the loss.


Sabres 4, Predators 3

Rookie Jiri Kulich delivered a clutch performance with two goals, including the game-winner with just over two minutes left, as Buffalo edged Nashville at home.

On a transition play, Sabres star Tage Thompson sent a pass across the high slot to Kulich, who buried a shot past Nashville goalie Justus Annunen (23 saves). The Sabres have now won consecutive games for just the second time this month.

Brady Skjei had a goal and an assist for the Predators, who have now dropped three straight after previously winning five in a row.

Blue Jackets 3, Utah Hockey Club 2 (OT)

Zach Werenski scored just 1:01 into overtime as Columbus completed a dramatic comeback victory over Utah in Salt Lake City.

Werenski capped a two-on-none breakaway with Cole Sillinger after stealing the puck deep in Utah’s zone. Kirill Marchenko and Kent Johnson also found the net for the Blue Jackets, while Daniil Tarasov made 31 saves to secure Columbus’ third consecutive overtime victory.

Nick Schmaltz and Alexander Kerfoot scored for Utah, while Clayton Keller logged two assists. Despite holding leads or being tied in the third period of each of their last four games, Utah remains winless over that stretch (0-2-2).
