Taylor Hall Lifts Blackhawks to Victory Over Rangers

Taylor Hall scored the game-winning goal with 13:44 remaining and added an assist to help the visiting Chicago Blackhawks snap their season-worst five-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers on Monday night.

The Blackhawks, outscored 21-10 during their skid, gave interim coach Anders Sorensen his first victory since taking over last Thursday. Chicago also ended a six-game road losing streak and claimed just their fourth win in the past 15 games.

Tyler Bertuzzi contributed a goal, marking only the second time this season that Chicago has won when scoring two or fewer goals.

Goaltender Arvid Soderblom made 29 saves in place of Petr Mrazek, who is sidelined with a groin injury. Soderblom secured his ninth career win with a key left skate save on Artemi Panarin during a second-period power play.

Buffalo, led by Jason Zucker’s two goals and an assist, dropped their seventh consecutive game (0-4-3).

Canadiens Top Ducks in Shootout Victory

Patrik Laine recorded a goal and an assist in regulation and scored in the shootout to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Kirby Dach also found the back of the net for Montreal, while goaltender Sam Montembeault made 27 saves, including four in overtime, to help the Canadiens improve to 3-1-0 on their current homestand.
