Blue Jackets Erase Three-Goal Deficit, Top Canucks in Shootout

Boone Jenner recorded two goals and an assist, and Kent Johnson netted the lone shootout tally as the Columbus Blue Jackets rallied from a three-goal hole to edge the Vancouver Canucks 7-6 in a wild Friday night contest.

Columbus trailed 5-2 midway through the third before storming back with three goals in under four minutes, including Jenner’s deflection and a go-ahead strike from Mathieu Olivier. Aatu Raty completed his two-goal night to force overtime, but Johnson sealed it in the shootout.

Dante Fabbro, Kirill Marchenko, Denton Mateychuk and Olivier also scored for the Blue Jackets, who have won two straight. Elvis Merzlikins made 31 saves in the win.

Vancouver’s Linus Karlsson, Brock Boeser, and Tyler Myers each scored, while Pius Suter and Kiefer Sherwood dished out three assists apiece. Kevin Lankinen made 32 saves for the Canucks, who had won two straight entering the night.

Panthers Edge Utah in OT Behind Bennett’s Brace

Sam Bennett scored both goals for Florida, including the overtime winner with 42 seconds left, to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Utah. Bennett finished a backhand off a Brad Marchand feed, marking Marchand’s long-awaited debut after being acquired earlier this month.

Sergei Bobrovsky needed just 13 saves as the Panthers secured a second straight win. Sean Durzi netted Utah’s lone goal, and Karel Vejmelka stopped 30 shots in a strong effort despite the loss.

Hurricanes Dominate Canadiens for Sixth Straight Win

Jackson Blake tallied a goal and two assists as the Carolina Hurricanes rolled past the Montreal Canadiens 4-1. Taylor Hall and Sebastian Aho scored in quick succession in the second, and Andrei Svechnikov sealed it with an empty-net goal.

Frederik Andersen made 14 saves to win his sixth consecutive start. Montreal got its only goal from Josh Anderson but was limited to seven shots through two periods and has now lost five straight.
