Connor McDavid reached a career milestone and then delivered the game-winning assist as the Edmonton Oilers edged the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime in Edmonton.
McDavid, who became the fourth fastest and youngest player in NHL history to reach 1,000 points with a second-period goal, set up Darnell Nurse for the decisive tally in the extra frame. Nurse, who also scored in regulation, converted McDavid’s no-look, behind-the-back pass to secure Edmonton’s third straight win. Leon Draisaitl contributed two assists, and Calvin Pickard made 21 saves.
Michael McCarron and Cole Smith scored for Nashville, with Smith tying the game late in regulation. Scott Wedgewood stopped 31 shots in the loss.

Flyers 5, Senators 4 (OT)
Matvei Michkov scored his first career overtime goal with 55 seconds left as the Philadelphia Flyers rallied for a 5-4 road victory over the Ottawa Senators.
Trailing 4-2 late in the third period, the Flyers surged back with goals from Michkov and Owen Tippett to force overtime. Michkov’s game-winner, his sixth goal of the season, came from a sharp angle as he banked the puck off Linus Ullmark’s pad.
Josh Norris led the Senators with a goal and an assist. Ullmark made 14 saves but couldn’t prevent Ottawa’s two-game win streak from ending.
Lightning 4, Jets 1
Andrei Vasilevskiy secured his 300th career win faster than any goaltender in NHL history as the Tampa Bay Lightning snapped the Winnipeg Jets’ seven-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory in Tampa.
Vasilevskiy reached the milestone in just 490 games, surpassing Jacques Plante’s record of 528 games. The 30-year-old made 23 saves in the win. Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos both scored for Tampa Bay, while Adam Lowry netted Winnipeg’s lone goal. Eric Comrie stopped 25 shots for the Jets, who entered the game with an NHL-best 15-1-0 record.
Devils 6, Panthers 2
Jesper Bratt notched his second career hat trick and added an assist to propel the New Jersey Devils to a 6-2 road victory over the Florida Panthers.
Stefan Noesen scored twice and Jack Hughes contributed three assists for the Devils, who have won seven of their last nine games. Jake Allen made 25 saves in net for New Jersey.
Florida, which had its seven-game winning streak snapped earlier this week, got goals from Sam Reinhart and Jesper Boqvist. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 23 shots in the loss.

Sabres 4, Blues 3 (OT)
Rasmus Dahlin’s power-play goal in overtime lifted the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 home win over the St. Louis Blues.
Dahlin’s winner capped a strong showing for Buffalo, which also got goals from Ryan McLeod, Alex Tuch, and Zach Benson. Devon Levi made 24 saves for the Sabres, who have won four of their last five.
Brandon Saad scored twice for the Blues, and Pavel Buchnevich added a goal, but it wasn’t enough to halt St. Louis’ slide, which has seen them lose seven of their last nine (2-6-1). Jordan Binnington made 29 saves in the loss.
Stars 7, Bruins 2
The Dallas Stars exploded for three goals in a span of 5:34 late in the second period to rout the visiting Boston Bruins 7-2 and sweep the season series.
Evgenii Dadonov tallied his first multi-goal game of the season, including a penalty-shot goal. Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston also scored during the second-period barrage for Dallas, which has won four of its last five.
Boston got goals from Charlie Coyle and David Pastrnak, but Jeremy Swayman allowed a career-high seven goals on 31 shots, snapping the Bruins’ three-game point streak (2-0-1).
Kraken 3, Blackhawks 1
Jaden Schwartz celebrated his 200th career goal as the Seattle Kraken defeated the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 3-1.
Matty Beniers and Brandon Tanev also scored for Seattle, which improved to 3-0-0 on its current six-game homestand. Joey Daccord made 18 saves to secure the win.
Ryan Donato scored the lone goal for Chicago, and Petr Mrazek stopped 23 shots in a losing effort.
Wild 3, Canadiens 0
Filip Gustavsson posted a 19-save shutout to help the Minnesota Wild blank the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 in Saint Paul, Minn.
Matt Boldy, Marco Rossi, and Kirill Kaprizov found the net for Minnesota, which has won three of its last four games. Canadiens goaltender Sam Montembeault made 25 saves but fell to 4-8-1 on the season.
Rangers 3, Sharks 2
Mika Zibanejad and Jimmy Vesey scored 94 seconds apart in the second period to help the New York Rangers rally for a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks at Madison Square Garden.
Vincent Trocheck added a goal for the Rangers, and Igor Shesterkin made 25 saves to rebound from back-to-back games allowing five goals. Timothy Liljegren and Fabian Zetterlund scored for San Jose, which fell to 5-3-1 in its last nine games after starting the season 0-7-2.

Scott Mayfield and Pierre Engvall scored early in the second period to spark the New York Islanders to a 5-2 victory over the host Vancouver Canucks.
Anders Lee and Noah Dobson scored in the third period to seal the win for the Islanders, who are on a five-game point streak (3-0-2). Semyon Varlamov made 24 saves for New York.
Jonathan Lekkerimaki scored his first NHL goal, and Tyler Myers added a late tally for Vancouver. Kevin Lankinen made 27 saves in the loss.
