Frank Vatrano Leads Ducks Past Lightning in 4-1 Victory

Frank Vatrano celebrated his new three-year contract extension with a stellar performance, scoring two goals and adding an assist as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 on Sunday night.

Vatrano opened the scoring during a two-goal first period and capped the win with an empty-net goal in the third. Troy Terry netted his fifth goal in six games, also contributing an assist, while Jackson LaCombe scored in the third period. The Ducks improved to 4-1-0 in their last five games, with Ryan Strome adding two assists in his 200th game with Anaheim.

The Lightning’s Jake Guentzel scored a power-play goal, his ninth of the season, but Tampa Bay struggled offensively and was swept on their three-game California road trip, being outscored 8-3.

Islanders Edge Bruins 5-4 in Overtime Thriller

Bo Horvat scored his second goal of the game in overtime, leading the New York Islanders to a 5-4 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Horvat’s game-winner came after Ilya Sorokin made a crucial save on Brad Marchand, allowing Horvat to rush ahead and beat Joonas Korpisalo. Anders Lee scored two goals, while Ryan Pulock contributed a goal and two assists, helping the Islanders snap a three-game losing streak.

For the Bruins, David Pastrnak scored twice in the third period to force overtime, marking his second consecutive multi-goal game. Despite the effort, Boston extended their skid to 0-3-1 in their last four games.


Rangers Dominate Blackhawks 6-2

The New York Rangers overwhelmed the Chicago Blackhawks with a 6-2 victory, fueled by two goals from Filip Chytil and two assists each from Brett Berard, Adam Fox, and Ryan Lindgren.

In his season debut, Louis Domingue stopped 25 shots for the Rangers, who saw 12 players record at least one point. The Blackhawks’ goaltender Arvid Soderblom made 28 saves, but Chicago managed only goals from Tyler Bertuzzi and Wyatt Kaiser, extending their struggles to six losses in their past seven games.


Hurricanes Outlast Penguins 4-3 in Overtime

Sebastian Aho scored 1:30 into overtime to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Raleigh, N.C.

Seth Jarvis delivered two goals and an assist, while Jalen Chatfield also scored for Carolina. Goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 16 saves to secure the win.

The Penguins received goals from Erik Karlsson, Kevin Hayes, and Michael Bunting, with Karlsson also adding an assist. Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 27 shots in the loss.

Maple Leafs Edge Flyers 3-2 in Overtime

Morgan Rielly netted the game-winning goal at the 2:25 mark of overtime, lifting the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rielly’s winner came off a pass from Auston Matthews, who finished the night with two assists. Matthew Knies and Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored for Toronto, while Dennis Hildeby stopped 30 shots as the Leafs extended their winning streak to four games.

The Flyers got goals from Tyson Foerster and Scott Laughton, with Ivan Fedotov making 22 saves in his first start since December 5. Philadelphia ended their road trip with a 2-3-1 record.
