Matthew Knies took advantage of a misplay behind the net by Igor Shesterkin, scoring the decisive goal with 13:39 remaining to lift visiting Toronto over New York. Oliver Ekman-Larsson opened scoring on a first-period power play, William Nylander added a tally early in the second, and Anthony Stolarz recorded 33 saves. The Maple Leafs have now claimed four straight victories, improving to 7-1-0 in their last eight. Mika Zibanejad notched a goal and assisted on Will Cuylle’s short-handed marker for the Rangers, who remained four points behind Columbus for the East’s second wild-card spot. Shesterkin finished with 14 saves.
