Stars 3, Capitals 1

Roope Hintz scored twice as the Dallas Stars defeated the Washington Capitals, ending Washington’s franchise-record 10-game road winning streak. Lian Bichsel added another goal for the Stars, who have won three of their past four games and improved to a dominant 13-3-0 at home. Jason Robertson contributed two assists, while Jake Oettinger was stellar in net, making 25 saves to secure the win.

The Capitals’ lone goal came from Dylan Strome, continuing his strong season, but Washington’s nine-game point streak (8-0-1), the longest in the NHL this year, came to an end. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 21 saves but couldn’t hold off the surging Stars. Washington missed an opportunity to inch closer to the NHL record of 12 consecutive road wins, held by the 2005-06 Detroit Red Wings and 2014-15 Minnesota Wild.

Canucks 3, Avalanche 1

Kiefer Sherwood stole the show in Vancouver with a natural hat trick, leading the Canucks to a victory over the visiting Colorado Avalanche. Sherwood’s three goals marked his first career hat trick and pushed his season total to 11 goals in just 30 games, surpassing his previous best of 10 goals in 68 games last season. Thatcher Demko was solid in goal, making 30 saves to help Vancouver finish its six-game homestand with a 3-2-1 record.

Colorado’s only goal came late in the third period from Valeri Nichushkin, as the Avalanche struggled to break through Demko’s defense. Mackenzie Blackwood, recently acquired by Colorado, made 22 saves but couldn’t prevent the team from losing its second game in three outings.

Panthers 6, Oilers 5

In a high-scoring affair, Carter Verhaeghe delivered the game-winning goal in the third period as the Florida Panthers edged the Edmonton Oilers in a thrilling matchup. Verhaeghe, who also had an assist, was supported by goals from Sam Reinhart, Niko Mikkola, Matthew Tkachuk, Gustav Forsling, and Jesper Boqvist. Sergei Bobrovsky made 25 saves, helping Florida bounce back after being shut out in their previous two games.

The Oilers, riding a five-game winning streak heading into the contest, saw strong performances from Zach Hyman, who scored twice, and Connor McDavid, who tallied three assists. Leon Draisaitl added a goal and an assist, but the team couldn’t overcome defensive lapses. Goaltender Stuart Skinner made 22 saves as Edmonton fell short in a closely contested game.
